Tom Cruise & Scientology Get Slammed By Leah Remini, Who Includes Katie Holmes & John Travolta In Her Attack

Tom Cruise is under fire in more ways than one. Known as the face of Scientology for decades, Tom just got verbally attacked by Leah Remini for his role in representing the church. In addition, Leah contended that Katie Holmes’ wedding created personal problems for Remini, and that Cruise had a feud with actor John Travolta.

And in one of those truth is stranger than fiction coincidences, Leah’s attack against Tom came at the same time as Cruise had to contend with a movie set fire, according to the New York Daily News.

Both Remini’s attack and the fire happened on Friday. The film fire happened when a trailer on the Jack Reacher sequel set blew up. Tom stars in the movie, and Cruise was on the set in the wardrobe trailer when the fire occurred.

The Jack Reacher: Never Go Back movie set fire was put out by emergency responders. But although that pre-Halloween scare was quickly handled without any worries for Tom, the firestorm set off by Leah Remini that involves Cruise, which also happened on Friday, is raging on.

A former member of the Scientology church, Leah announced on Friday’s ABC News 20/20 that she blames Tom for her departure from the organization, and his wedding as well as Katie Holmes play a role in her departure.

In 2006, Cruise tied the knot with Katie Holmes.

“I thought, ‘I now see where the cracks are in our Church, and it’s (Church leader) David Miscavige, it’s Tom Cruise,’ ” accused Remini. “They were bringing down Scientology.”

Leah contends that the Church of Scientology believes that someone who criticizes Tom is actually criticizing the church, because Cruise is seen as the face of Scientology.

“Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself. You are a person who is anti the aims and goals of Scientology. You are evil.”

In addition, Remini discussed her new book, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, and recalled receiving an invitation to the wedding of Tom Cruise in 2006, reported People.

Leah claims that the Scientology Church requested that she bring Jennifer Lopez and J. Lo’s husband at the time, who was Marc Anthony. But then officials representing the church tried to get Lopez alone without Remini.

“They were trying to extract me,” insists Leah. “I can only assume because they wanted to make Jennifer a Scientologist. Maybe I was barring that road for them.”

In addition, Remini created problems by questioning the apparent disappearance of Shelly, who is the wife of Miscavige. The Scientology leader and Shelly were always together, says Leah, and she was concerned that suddenly Shelly had vanished. Remini eventually filed a missing persons report, which the Los Angeles Police Department subsequently dismissed because they said they did talk with Shelly.

“[Leah’s] bizarre efforts to harass the Church of Scientology’s leader and his wife, whom Ms. Remini has been obsessed with for years,” stated the church.

But that’s not the only battle between Leah and the Church of Scientology as well as Tom Cruise. Remini was informed that guests at the wedding had slammed her as being rude and noisy.

“[Leah] disrupted the wedding, basically destroyed the wedding, [and exhibited] horrible behavior,” according to those reports.

But Leah blamed Tom and the head of the church Miscavige for wrecking Scientology. As for Remini’s take on the wedding that Cruise staged? Leah says she was asked to “recant” her comments and apologize for destroying the “wedding of the century.”

The church fired back.

“Every claim Miss Remini has made is not only untrue but ridiculous and stupid,” according to the Church of Scientology.

But Leah has even more to say about Scientology and Tom Cruise, reported Entertainment Tonight. Remini also revealed that the church reprimanded her for a statement she made.

“Get a freaking room,” Remini allegedly told Katie and Tom at one point.

Leah felt that Cruise had been “forcibly” intimate with Holmes in public.

“You can assume if you say something that is critical of the church, you will be written up. Husband, wife, mother, daughter, it’s what the group does to regulate itself,” said Remini.

But the Church of Scientology is slamming back even more.

“It comes as no surprise that someone as self-absorbed as Leah Remini with an insatiable craving for attention would exploit her former faith as a publicity stunt by rewriting her history with it, including omitting that she was participating in a program to remain a Scientologist by her own choice, as she was on the verge of being expelled for her ethical lapses.”

Holmes’ representative told People that 20/20 had asked numerous questions about Katie’s views.

“We supplied no answers and instead gave only a one-sentence statement in response,” said the actress’ spokesperson. “Katie is not making an appearance on the special, nor is she discussing Scientology, or her former marriage, and this quote was provided through her publicist.”

In addition to attacking “overgrown child” Tom Cruise, the Church of Scientology, and Katie Holmes, Leah implicated John Travolta in her troublemakers list, according to Radar Online.

Kirstie Alley and John were well-known as members of the Church of Scientology. Now, Remini is revealing that among the exclusive members of Cruise’s own clique, however, those two celebrities were shunned.

“I had heard that Tom didn’t like them,” shares Leah.

In addition, Remini revealed how she felt when Tom hopped onto the couch of Oprah Winfrey to share his love for Katie Holmes to the world.

“[Tom acted like an] ‘overgrown child’… his behavior reflected badly on Scientology and me,” Leah recalls feeling.
