David Arquette and estranged wife Courteney Cox are officially getting divorced. David went to court this week to officially file legal documents to end his marriage to the Cougar Town star.
In his filing David Arquette asks for joint legal and physical custody of daughter Coco, who will turn 8-years-old tomorrow. Arquette however did not ask for spousal or child support from his wealthier wife.
The divorce document cites “irreconcilable difference” as the main reason for the divorce.
David and Courteney appear to have been on good terms since splitting, so good in fact that David Arquette has chosen to represent himself during the divorce proceedings.
David and Courteney Cox married on June 12, 1999, now their 13th wedding anniversary can be better remembered as their divorce filing date.
The divorce of the Hollywood power couple comes after a long separation that dated back to October 2010. After that time both Courteney and David said they were still “best friends” who were committed to raising their daughter with both parents involved.
While David Arquette signed the divorce papers on March 23, 2012 he waited three months to actually turn the documents in, making the divorce proceedings official.
Unlike many Hollywood relationships the couple have not spent much time speaking ill of one another in public, leading some industry folk to wonder if the couple would eventually resolve their differences and stay married.
While the couple are not officially divorced at this time it looks like they are one step closer to end more than a decades time spent together as a married couple.
