It was only a matter of time since Andy Samberg’s departure from Saturday Night Live before there was an announcement of what the comedian’s  plans were for his next move in his career. Turns out, it’s not even on US television.

According to BBC Three, the network announced that Samberg will be getting his own comedy show called Cuckoo, which will be a six part series and will have the comedian star opposite Greg Davies, who was made famous for the series The Inbetweeners.

Cuckoo will see Andy Samberg as a slacker who has outrageous “New Age” ideas, announced the network. A more detailed description of the show was released via a press conference that took place earlier today:

When Ken (Greg Davies) and Lorna (Helen Baxendale) collect their daughter (Tamla Kari) from the airport, they’re horrified to learn that she’s returned from her gap year with more than just a henna tattoo and braids in her hair. At the arrival gate, she promptly introduces them to her new husband, Cuckoo (Andy Samberg) – the squared-jawed, self-appointed spiritual ninja who is now their son-in-law.

At the same press conference the executive producer of hit British shows like The Office, Ash Atalla said Samberg’s new show will exemplify, “The best of British meets the toast of Hollywood,” he continued by unveiling their hopes for the series, “We hope Cuckoo cements the special relationship between our two great countries. I imagine [Barack] Obama and [British Prime Minister David] Cameron will be watching closely.”

Of course Samberg is just one alum doing great things after an SNL departure. Kristen Wiig will be focusing on films now that she she’s no longer on Saturday Night Live. Also, rumored comedian looking to join the ranks of retirement from SNL is Jason Sudeikis.

Andy Samberg’s Cuckoo is slated to start filming in the summer with Roughcut Television backing them and it will be written by Robin French and Kieron Quirke.
