Kim Kardashian And Kylie Jenner App Battle, Kylie Explains Why She’s Winning

Kylie Jenner has found herself on Time’s “Most influential Teens” list recently and it’s all thanks to a clever app that the 18-year-old came up with. It’s a “teenage tech success story,” as Us Weekly terms it, for the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner crew.

Yesterday, Kylie opened up with Time about the success of her app and shared how big sis Kim has been a huge inspiration to her.

“Kim is so inspirational and she has the biggest drive. She’s so dedicated, she’s so smart, she’s such a businesswoman, and she’s always doing something and thinking of new ideas. She has inspired me to have a great work ethic.”

Although Kim has been a part of the reason that Kylie has begun putting her clever ideas to use, the teen expands as to why her app has become more successful than her inspirational big sister’s.

“Kim’s older, she has a different fanbase. And she’s also—the difference between our apps is hers is very perfect. It’s simple, everything is black and white. Mine is more, I invite the cameras over and say, ‘Oh, hey, let’s just do this.’ We do makeup tutorials and I’m laughing and talking. I know my fans are my age or younger than me, so I just like to show my personality and show my fans my home and my dogs. I get really personal. I’m on Snapchat, and I’m just like them at the end of the day. Kim’s more private. She has kids. It’s just different.”

Kylie and the rest of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians sisters have experienced massive success on social media due to their openness and willingness to be completely transparent and uninhibited. However, Kylie has taken steps to make her own website and app that allows her to share beauty tips with her young fans. Her beauty tutorials gain millions of views once live and the star is quickly making a name for herself apart from her family’s success in reality TV.

Kylie went on in her interview with Time to explain how she wishes to impact others with her success.

“I just want to inspire my fans to be whoever they want to be, because that’s what I’ve always done. And they know that. I’ve been experimenting with my hair, with my lip colors. I have green hair one week, blue hair the other. I’m Gothic another week. I’m always experimenting and trying to figure out who I am and exactly what I want to be. I feel like it inspires them to be exactly who they want to be.”

About her own influence and her family’s influence over young fans, Kylie realizes that they hold an important role and have a massive appeal to millions of fans worldwide.

“Whether we’re influential for one reason or another, it is what it is. I know how influential I am over my fans and followers.”

Kylie Jenner initially launched her app in September to immediate, massive success. Her efforts flew to the top of the iTunes chart and it continues to be a top app for the teenage range. The app is certainly handy for young women and teens who are looking to beautify like a pro and who are searching for Kardashian-Jenner-esque fashion on a budget. Kylie also shared how her app benefits her fans.

“I have all my outfits on there that I wear day-by-day and that I’ve worn in the past. And below it I’ve put — I find dope clothes that are looks for less. They look exactly like my clothes but cheaper, more affordable too. Most of the stuff my fans never knew I get from CVS and stores like that. It’s fun sharing all the stuff that I use! I don’t use crazy stuff. There’s always ways to do it for less.”

Kylie Jenner has certainly found the perfect way to appeal to her massive following in another way other than as a reality star.
