Dawnguard Beta Invites Start To Roll Out

If you applied to get into the Dawnguard beta, you may want to have a look at your email.

Bethesda announced this morning that beta invites for Dawnguard, Skyrim‘s first DLC expansion, have already started to go out. Roughly 75 percent of the invites were sent, the developer explained, with the rest expected to be sent out by tomorrow.

Unfortunately, it looks like the closed beta for Dawnguard is quite a bit more limited than we all thought. In a post on its Twitter account, Bethesda says that an “overwhelming” number of players applied, but only half of one percent received invites. Yikes.

If you’re one of the very lucky few to receive a Dawnguard beta invite, you’ll not only be getting a head start, but you’ll also be getting the game for free. Bethesda previously said that the Dawnguard beta is the full version, meaning once it goes live for everyone else, you’ll still have it.

In Dawnguard, players take part in a struggle between two factions: the vampires, or those who wish to slay them, the Dawnguard. One of the biggest new features introduced in the expansion are perk trees for vampires and werewolves. If you go along with the vampires, you’ll now be able to transform into a vampire lord, a transformation that is similar in some respects to the werewolf transformation.

Which side will you choose in Dawnguard? The vampires, or the vampire slayers?
