Ariana Grande Explains Meaning Behind Flirty ‘Focus’ Video

Ariana Grande has finally released the video for her new single “Focus” after teasing it for nearly 40 days. She kicked off her new single and music video from her third studio album Moonlight.

Ariana Grande announced the release date for “Focus” on September 15 and has been counting down the day ever since. Now Grande can finally breathe a sigh of relief because both her new single and video are officially out.

The 22-year-old singer surprised her fans on Twitter by sharing the single cover with the following message.

Like the single cover, the “Focus” video shows Ariana Grande with silver/lavender hair. The pastel-colored music video shows Grande shimmying and shaking her trademark ponytail as she sings flirty lines such as, “Just come and get it — let them say what they want to say.”

The catchy song is produced by none other than Max Martin, who has produced hits for Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and the Weeknd. Fans will find that Ari’s new song is similar to “Problem” with the horns and a male voice in the chorus. The trumpet-laden song was co-written by Ilya Salmanzadeh, Savan Kotecha, and Peter Svensson, according to Direct Lyrics.

It’s the first official single from Ariana’s new album, rumored to be titled Moonlight, which will be released later this year on Republic Records.

The last that Arianators heard the news about “Focus” it was called “Focus on Me” at the iHeartMedia Summit. That’s when Grande’s label spoke to music industry journalists and radio executives on what to expect on her upcoming album. It’s interesting to see that Grande has since shortened the title of her new single to simply “Focus.”

But in a video blog posted on October 9 on her Honeymoon Diaries YouTube Channel, Grande explained the meaning behind the new single.

“When I say focus on me, I literally mean focus on me and what I’m all about and what I believe in.”

On Friday, October 30, the pint-size diva took to Twitter to thank her fans for their support and to say how “humbled” she is to be sandwiched between Adele and Justin Bieber on the iTunes Charts.

Ariana Grande is a busy woman these days. She managed to release two albums in two consecutive years and headline her first arena tour. Now Grande’s getting ready to release her upcoming album. She even managed to debut her first fragrance, Ari by Ariana Grande, over the summer and will become MAC’s new Viva Glam Girl.

She’s not going away anytime soon. In fact, she’s just getting started. Ariana is teaming up with MAC Cosmetics to launch her own line of limited edition makeup in the “Viva Glam” collection.

Grande now follows in the footsteps of Fergie, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, among others. She has co-created two lipsticks: a matte plum lipstick and a shimmery pink lipgloss.

The “One Last Time” singer took to her Instagram page to share an image from the MAC campaign along with a special announcement.

Ariana Grande’s lip line will be available in January 2016 on maccosmetics.com and in select retail stores. It’s no wonder that Grande is the new face of MAC Cosmetic’s “VIVA Glam” campaign. The powerhouse singer shows off her killer makeup looks in her new music video. She’s become known for her cat-eye, her rich matte lips, and her flirty lashes.
