Britney Spears Vegas Ticket Sales Dismal, In Ticket War With Celine, Adele Aching To See Brit Live

Britney Spears has been gracing the Vegas stage since 2013 to entertain crowds with her “Piece of Me” show. The pop icon had been filling the seats just fine and is even signed on to carry her residency into 2016. However, apparently since Vegas veteran Celine Dion returned to the stage on the strip, the Canadian superstar has been stealing attention and ticket sales away from Spears.

A reliable source recently spoke on the matter with Page Six, attempting to make sense of Brit’s plummeting ticket sales.

“It’s a Vegas war now that Céline is back, and Britney is losing in a major way. Céline has sold out almost every show. Britney got off to a really good start, but her fans aren’t particularly Vegas people. It’s hard to keep people interested in an act like Britney Spears since she’s a 1990s, 2000s pop star. That fan base doesn’t really come to Vegas to see shows.”

The source went on to explain that Brit’s demographic of fans generally hits Vegas for the DJ scene and to party as opposed to spending the big bucks on a performance like Spears or Dion. Additionally, it could be a bit of a disaster down the line for Brit if she is unable to fill seats. The source relays that a Vegas performer is expected to fill the seats night after night. Due to Spears’ seriously young fan base and being up against more seasoned stars, this is not going to be an easy feat for the princess of pop.

“She can fill arenas, but a residency is another beast. A residency is different from a worldwide tour. Those seats have to be filled every night, and that’s difficult to do with a younger fan base.”

There is still time for Spears, who is apparently paid $475,000 per show, to boost her sales as she heads into the later part of the year and prepares to bring new bits to her performance for 2016.

Acts like Mariah Carey, Shania Twain, and Celine Dion have had little trouble putting people in the chairs for their performances, but this all goes back to the age range of fans and the longevity of their careers. Mariah has over a decade on Britney and has the attention of those who do enjoy taking in a show or two while in Sin City. Celine’s fan base is almost entirely an older crowd, and Twain draws the country fans of all ages.

As the publication notes, it is Caesar’s Entertainment that has signed Britney Spears for an extended residency, and if Celine has been snatching show-goers away from the songstress since August, the entertainment mogul members must see hope for Spears in the long run. Her “Piece of Me” residency has been a great success in the past, and this all indicates that Brit’s ticket sales will peak again. A rep for the star shares with Page Six in regards to the relationship between the entertainment group and Spears.

“Caesars Entertainment and [Spears] have a great relationship built on the massive success of her ‘Britney: Piece of Me’ show. So muc?h so that they recently signed a two-year extension based on the tremendous desire from audiences to see the show from ?around the world.”

The fact that one of Britain’s biggest pop stars is desperate to see Spears in concert should be enough to inspire others to as well. Vanity Fair relays that singer-powerhouse Adele is planning to make a trip to Vegas to see Spears. That is a pretty incredible compliment for the charismatic performer.
