Raven Symone Criticized For Spring Valley High School, Ben Fields Comments

Raven Symone, the controversial co-host of The View, is being criticized for her comments she made about the Spring Valley High School assault incident that involved resource officer deputy Ben Fields.

Raven Symone is no stranger to upsetting viewers. Most recently, the Inquisitr reported about Symone making comments regarding what she considered “ghetto names.” Now, Raven has upset a whole other group of people after she chose to sympathize with Fields, who can be seen in a viral video, snapped by a fellow student, assaulting the teenage girl.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr,Ben Fields was called to a classroom at Spring Valley High School after a girl refused to leave the class. The teenager had apparently been using her cell phone while she was working on her computer, and the teacher told her she needed to put it away. When she refused, the teacher and an administrator asked her to leave the classroom, but she would not get out of her seat.

Fields then entered the room and again asked the girl to remove herself from her desk. When she didn’t budge, the officer asked a student to move a desk and then removed the girl’s computer from her desk, and told her she was under arrest. That is when the situation turned physical. Fields yanked the girl out of her seat, and dragged her across the room before telling her to put her hands behind her back.

When the topic got brought up at the round table, Raven had some of her own thoughts and opinions to share with the viewers.

“The girl was told multiple times to get off the phone,” Symone said during the round table discussion. “There’s no right or reason for him to be doing this type of harm, that’s ridiculous. But at the same time, you gotta follow the rules in school. First of all, why are there cell phones in school? This shouldn’t even be a problem to begin with, and he shouldn’t have been acting like that on top of it.”

Raven’s fellow co-host, Michelle Collins, did not agree with her comments, and said, “You cannot lay a hand on a student.”

Raven then went on to give a rundown on Field’s record, seeming as though she was agreeing with Collins, but then again started sympathizing with the officer.

“He was actually sued for false arrest, excessive force and battery in 2007 after a couple accused him of manhandling them,” the former That’s So Raven star said. “He has a record and he’s still hired, but at the same time, get off your phone.”

Raven Symone’s comments immediately generated a buzz on social media, with many users calling her out for her “ignorance,” and some even posting a petition for Raven to be removed from The View.
