Trace Cyrus and Brenda Song Break Up

Though Miley is in super-duper happy sex-is-awesome land with new fiance Liam Hemsworth, her less-famous brother is not so lucky. Trace Cyrus and fiancee Brenda Song have called off their wedding and broken up.

“Brenda and I have decided to go our separate ways,” the 23-year-old musician said in a statement. “We split up a couple of months ago. We will continue to focus on our careers. I wish Brenda the best and much success in the future. I hope everyone can respect our privacy about this situation. Thanks so much.”

The announcement comes just days after sister Miley Cyrus announced her engagement to actor Liam Hemsworth of Hunger Games and being-Thor’s-brother fame. Song, known for work on the Disney channel and in the acclaimed 2010 David Fincher flick The Social Network, and Metro Station guitarist/singer/songwriter Trace announced their engagement back in October, though reports are saying that they haven’t acted as a couple for quite some time now.

Reportedly, they’ve decided to throw in the towel after delaying commitment to a wedding date, citing his career as a musician and hers as an actor as more important priorities in their lives.

Prior to their engagement, news broke that Song was pregnant, expecting her first child with Cyrus. This ended up either being half-true or not true at all, as the 24-year-old never showed any signs of being pregnant in the months following the announcement. Her mother confirmed that Song was never pregnant in the first place, saying, “She’s actually not pregnant … It’s very upsetting to our family because of what I’m going through and it’s not how we raised her.”

Prior to their engagement, Cyrus was in a relationship with Demi Lovato and Song was romantically linked to Joe Jonas.
