‘Buffy’ Star Nicholas Brendon Enters Rehab For Depression

Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander for the entire run of the hit series, has checked into a Florida rehab facility for depression. After a series of arrests, Brendon decided that he’s ready to beat his problems with the help of professionals.

According to People, the 44-year-old checked into rehab for depression. It’s said the treatment plan he’s on will take 90 days to complete. The actor announced his decision on his personal Facebook account.

“Well my beautiful people I’m off to florida for 90 days of trearment [sic]. I love you all so much and I truly do appreciate all of your love and support. We’re going to beat this.”

In the beginning of the month, Brendon was arrested in Upstate New York for a domestic dispute he was having with his girlfriend. Police arrived to the hotel and found a 33-year-old acquaintance of Brendon’s in an incident with the actor. During the altercation, the star allegedly choked her by grabbing her neck. Brendon had left the scene at the time. Brendon was arrested a few blocks away from the hotel, and was booked for the night. It’s said that he was intoxicated at the time of arrest.

At the time, the acquaintance said that she was meeting with the actor to return some items of his, and that’s when things took a turn for the worse. Nicholas became “agitated” when she went to leave, and then he took her car keys and smashed her cell phone. At the time of his arrest, he was charged with criminal mischief, one count of obstruction of breathing, and one count of robbery in the third degree.

This was one in a series of incidents that Brendon has been involved in. He was arrested three other times in 2015, all involving alcohol of some kind. Back in February, the actor was arrested for trashing a hotel room. In March, he was arrested for the same thing. During the incident dating back to March, it was said that he had stopped taking his medication that aided him in his depression.

This isn’t the star’s first time entering rehab, either. Back in June, Brendon went to rehab for substance abuse and depression. That was a month after he was arrested in South Carolina for public drunkenness while staying in Myrtle Beach. At the time, he posted a photo to his Twitter account, captioning the photo with, “Healing waters of Myrtle Beach. We are all human.”

Brendon also tried to rectify his problem by taping an episode of Dr. Phil, but the episode never aired, as the actor walked off the set. While discussing his mental health and addiction issues, Brendon walked off the set because he took issue with the way Dr. Phil was questioning him during the interview.

For all of his troubles, Brendon has been open with the public about his struggles. Prior to checking in to his most recent rehab facility, the Buffy star seemed hopeful about his future, by reaching out to his fans on Twitter to keep them up to date.
