Watch World Series Game 2 Live Online: New York Mets Vs. Kansas City Royals, Streaming Link

After an epic World Series classic Game One, the New York Mets will try to recover from a heartbreaking defeat to the Kansas City Royals as Game Two streams live online with a pitching matchup to watch closely as the 2015 Series, the 111th since 1903, shapes up to become one of the best ever.

It will become a classic, that is, if the remaining games are anything like the incredible first one at Kaufmann Stadium, a game that the Royals won 5-4 on sacrifice fly by Eric Hosmer in the bottom of the 14th inning, bringing an end to a 5-hour, nine-minute emotional roller coaster for both teams.

The emotions were particularly powerful for Royals starting pitcher Edinson Volquez, who pitched six solid innings giving up three runs on six hits — all after reportedly learning on his way to the ballpark that his father, Daniel Volquez, who resided in Volquez’s native Dominical Republic, had passed away just hours before the game.

Volquez left the ballpark without speaking to the media, but teammate Jeremy Guthrie described the 32-year-old Volquez as “devastated.”

“I had never seen him like that before,” Guthrie told ESPN. “He was very subdued, very quiet. I could tell he was in a lot of emotional pain.”

Emotions on the field also ran at intense levels, starting with the first pitch delivered by 26-year-old Mets hurler Matt Harvey — a fastball down the middle of the plate to Kansas City leadoff hitter Alcides Escobar, who lofted the pitch deep to center field in front of the warning track.

But Mets center fielder Yoenis Cespedes appeared to badly misjudge the ball and merely wave his glove as Escobar raced around the bases for a inside-the-park home run, crossing home plate standing up without a throw.

Video of the incredible play, the first inside-the-park home run in a World Series game since 1929, is below.

The Mets took a 4-3 lead in the eighth inning on an error by Hosmer, but tied the game in the bottom of the ninth of normally rick-solid New York closer Jeurys Familia, when Alex Gordon took Familia deep for the closer’s first blown save since July 30.

Gordon’s blast was also the first run that Familia had allowed in eight 2015 postseason outings spanning 9 2/3 innings pitched — with five saves.

In Game Two, the Mets will attempt to pull even behind 27-year-old righty fireballer Jacob deGrom, who has won all three of his postseason starts so far this year.

The Royals counter with their big midseason trade acquisition, 29-year-old Johnny Cueto, who has struggled badly in the postseason, allowing 14 runs on 15 hits in just 16 innings over his three 2015 playoff starts.

Can the Mets recover from the 14-inning heartbreaker in Game One to pull even with the free-swinging Royals before heading back to New York? Or will the Royals leave Kansas City with a commanding 2-0 lead, halfway toward their first World Series championship since 1985?
