Be warned: your lucky charm can attract lightning and kill you

A Malaysian man has died after a bolt of lightning struck his good luck charm.

46 year old Champee Kelean was killed while sheltering from a storm in the Malaysian state of Kedah. Local reports say that the strike wasn’t bad luck alone: the bolt of lightning was attracted by copper in the good luck charm.

The odds of being struck by lightning in any case are very low, but likewise there is a lesson here: when in a storm, try to avoid having copper hanging around your neck.
