Jason Pierre-Paul Returns: How Will This Affect The New York Giants?

Jason Pierre-Paul returns to the New York Giants after months of speculation about his mangled hand forcing his early retirement from the NFL.

The New York Giants have secured a one-year deal that will bring about the return of Jason Pierre-Paul. To protect themselves, the Giants made sure that the deal was laced with quite a bit of incentives. While the team is comfortable after having their medical staff check on Pierre-Paul, they are not sure how his injured hand will hold up in an actual NFL game.

Jason Pierre-Paul more than likely received a contract similar to the one Greg Hardy signed with the Dallas Cowboys. The New York Giants will more than likely give Pierre-Paul a bonus for every sack that he gets. The Giants need a lot more of those than they have been getting before his return.

For the next two weeks, Jason Pierre-Paul will be a roster exemption granted by the NFL. The New York Giants will use that time period to see him go full speed in practice. If they do not like what they see, then the Giants can cut Pierre-Paul. If Jason returns to form, then another player will need to be released by the Giants.

Jason Pierre-Paul’s return to the New York Giants comes after many people believing that he would never step foot on an NFL field again. Back in July, Pierre-Paul lost a finger and heavily damaged another digit due to an accident involving fireworks. When photos of his hand surfaced, even more people doubted Pierre-Paul.

The New York Giants themselves doubted Jason Pierre-Paul and his ability to return to the NFL as well. While Pierre-Paul was telling the world that he would indeed return, the Giants refused to make any absolute statements on the matter. Even when Pierre-Paul visited the team before the regular season started, a contract was not offered by the Giants.

Due to the damage done to his hand, Jason Pierre-Paul will more than likely be required to wear special protective padding. The New York Giants medical staff will more than likely create a custom-fitted glove for Pierre-Paul when he returns to the field.

Some believe that desperation on the part of the New York Giants is the reason why Jason Pierre-Paul is making his return to the team. The Giants are one of the worst teams in the NFL when it comes to pass rushing. That was not the case when Jason was around. If healthy, his return should provide the Giants with at least one good pass rusher.

In the NFC East, the New York Giants are currently sitting on top of the division. They have a 4-3 record, which means that the Giants are not extremely comfortable with the team they have now. The return of Jason Pierre-Paul could help them fend off the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, and Philadelphia Eagles.

Jason Pierre-Paul returns to a much more complicated New York Giants defense than the one that he was used to. Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo was brought back to New York because head coach Tom Coughlin felt that the previous defense was too predictable. Pierre-Paul will need some time to learn the system.

Even before the return of Jason Pierre-Paul was officially announced by the New York Giants, the team was already eyeballing their Week 10 match up against the New England Patriots. Tom Brady is having a tremendous year, so Pierre-Paul is going to definitely be needed if the Giants hope to slow the Patriots.

Jason Pierre-Paul was already generating attention prior to his return because he dominated offensive lines in the NFL. Now, Pierre-Paul will be generating attention because fans are intrigued at the possibility of a handicap player doing well in the National Football League.
