#YouLikeThat: Redskins QB Kirk Cousins’ Post-Game Comment Goes Viral

Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins apparently made headlines twice on Sunday after a close game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It was Kirk’s third touchdown pass in the second half that locked in a victory for the Redskins with a final score of 31-30, according to ESPN.

However, thanks to viral hashtags and social media, Cousins will likely be remembered most for a comment that he made after the team’s impressive win.

The 27-year-old former Michigan State Spartan was apparently very excited about the victory as he headed to the locker room.

While passing reporter Tarik El-Bashir, Kirk pointed to him and shouted, “You like that! You like that!”

Even though the moment came and went within just a few seconds, it was long enough to make a huge impact in the world of tweets, memes and Vine videos along with the viral hashtag #YouLikeThat.

The recent viral trend revolving around rapper Drake’s dance moves in his “Hotline Bling” music video was even enhanced by replacing his face with Kirk Cousins to pay tribute to his #YouLikeThat moment.

Quite a few fans and critics were impressed by Kirk Cousins’ post-game comment, as well as his overall performance during the game.

After he apparently had a moment to calm down, Kirk Cousins opened up about his excitement over the big win in an interview with Dan Steinberg from the Washington Post.

“I mean, I just get really fired up after we win, that’s all it is, just fired up. I can get more fired up, but I try to stay composed. But yeah man, it was just good.”

Keep in mind that many people strongly believed that the Buccaneers were going to walk away with the victory — especially after the first half of Sunday’s match-up.

In the second quarter of the game, the Buccaneers were in the lead by 24 points — a deficit that had never been overcome by the Redskins in the history of the franchise, according to ESPN.

Another impressive milestone that Kirk reached was throwing more than one touchdown pass in a single game — something that he had not done so far this season until Sunday’s game. According to the report, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden “lit into his players” during halftime. That pep talk must have flicked a switch inside of Kirk Cousins, because he returned to the field in the second half ready for war.

In addition to running an 8-yard touchdown in the second quarter to put the Redskins on the scoreboard, Kirk lit up the second half with three touchdown passes. He finished the game with 33 for 40 for 317 yards.

During a postgame interview, Kirk Cousins shined a spotlight on the major lesson that was taught during the Redskins’ impressive comeback and well-deserved victory. According to Kirk, the lesson learned is to “just keep playing and you never know what can happen.”
