Bob Arum Calls For Investigation Into Pacquiao Fight
Manny Pacquiao lost his first fight in seven years this weekend to Timothy Bradley. But the decision wasn’t exactly unanimous. Pretty much everyone believes that Manny was cheated out of a win and now his promoter, Bob Arum, is calling for an investigation into the results of the fight.
“I want to investigate whether there was any undue influence, whether the [Nevada Athletic Commission] gave any particular instruction and how they came to this conclusion… The whole sport is in an uproar. People are going crazy. If this was a subjective view that each of [the judges] honestly held, OK. I would still disagree, but then we’re off the hook in terms of there being no conspiracy. But there needs to be an independent investigation because it strains credulity that an event everybody saw as so one-sided one way all three judges saw it as close. It strains credulity.
Arum, who represents both fighters, said:
“I’ve never been as ashamed of the sport of boxing as I am tonight.”
According to Fox, two of the judges from the Pacquiao / Bradley fight scored the outcome 115-113 in favor of Bradley, while the other scored the fight 115-113 in favor of Pacquiao.
Judge Duane Ford said that the anger over the results probably comes from Pacquiao’s popularity. Ford said that if fans took a step back and really looked at the fight they would see that Bradley won. Ford said:
“If this were ‘American Idol’, without a doubt, Manny Pacquiao would have won. But it was not. I gave an honest opinion. I had Pacquiao up 4-2, I think, at the end of six rounds. I thought he hurt Bradley a couple of times early in the fight. But when the bell rang to end that round, it was over and what happens in one round doesn’t carry over to the next round. They’re separate units…Remember, it’s a boxing match and Bradley demonstrated his ability to box expertly.”
Several boxing fans are calling for a rematch but Arum said that wouldn’t happen until a full investigation was conducted.

This is the exact reason boxing is losing fans and the MMA/UFC are gaining fans everyday. The fight was one sides all night, Manny Pacquiao. I gave Bradley one solid round and maybe would spot him a second. So at most it would have been 10-2 Pacquiao. He never out boxed Manny and Manny was never affected with what Bradley brought to the ring… I'm not sure what the hell the judges saw but I say they did a piss poor job. This bout was never close in any round… I will say Bradley has heart and determination and he can say he stood the test of time with Manny. The world's greatest boxer pound for pound. He out boxed Bradley the whole night. With that said Manny was wrongfully ripped of his title and the sport of boxing should be ashamed of itself. Bradley could not and should not be celebrating/excited for this win. After all, it's not a win; it was wrongfully given to him. If there is a rematch I believe Manny will leave Bradley on the canvass early so there is clarity for the judges and it would rid the bs scoring of the 115-113 that turned up at nights end of the event.

They should do the right thing for the millions of fans that have finally lost trust in boxing and investigate the judges. Review the fight. Even the blind disagree with that decision.

I always suspected Boxing of being corrupt but after this travesty I have no doubt…This was a disaster, the judges saying boxing fans are like american idol fans is ridiculous! We know who wins a fight and wins it as easily as manny did!

Why is everyone so up in arms this isn't new. Boxing has always been corrupt. Where was Bob Arum when the decisions were for his fighters. All the decisions giving Cesar Chavez victories were never subjected to scrutiny. Many fights are still being fixed. Far too many good fighters have given up the fight game because of corruption. Boxing, to me has not been a vaid sport for years, it's on the level of wrestling, just a show nothing more.

I have been a boxing fan since childhood, watched with my dad the Friday Night fights.
I have seen so many bad decisions in recent years, that I have lost interest in the fights. Another way of judging.
may be in order if this sport is to remain of interest to the public.

Bradley won the fight fair and square. Any object observer, there aren't many, has to agree with the two judges. manny did not win a single round after the 5th. Manny throw lots of punches but most of them did not land. The announcers would watch Manny miss six punches and land one and make a big deal of the one punch. that doesn't win a fight. Finally, the judges went against the crowd and gave the title to the guy who performed the best in the ring on fight night. I think that is good for boxing, not bad.

Boxing should not be held in Las Vegas nor anywhere in Nevada anymore until the Nevada Atheletic Commision, The Nevada Gaming Commission and the FBI has done a thorough investigation. CJ Ross and Duane Ford should be banned from judging boxing and their gross ignorance of scoring

I never liked boxing because just like wresling. I think is a joke, a disgrace to any sport and a waste of tie to see. This match reinforces my strong feelings towards this sport. This sport is not only dirty but the management is stupid. At least stupid enough not knowing when to quit and use a little of common sence. Ahh, this reminds me of goverment politics and corporate America.

That was messed up for real. But some how, the judges get away with it. I actually love Boxing, but this fight was a disgrace and someone should take responsibility for the results!
