Katy Perry turns 31 on Sunday, October 25, and the pop music world is celebrating. The New York Daily News celebrated the huge event by listing ten unknown facts about the singer who has outsold Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, and many other famous pop stars over the past five years.
They begin by stating that Katy Perry grew up in a strict household; although, Perry indicated this personal information in several interviews. “I Kissed a Girl” was a rebellion against the strict, religious upbringing provided by her parents, two born-again Christian pastors. They forbade Perry to watch The Smurfs because they believed the show was devilish.
In addition to the New York Daily News,Gossip Cop celebrated Perry’s birthday, as well. However, the site did it with a twist, as they discussed several false rumors about Perry that had to be debunked.
“Gossip Cop was the first outlet to bust OK! when it published a completely untrue cover story in February that alleged Perry was ‘pregnant’ with John Mayer’s baby. A source close to Perry exclusively told Gossip Cop it was a lie, and the following month the tabloid was forced to publicly apologize to the singer.”
Gossip Cop added that they also busted a story, started by the Daily Mail, which alleged that Perry and Florence and the Machine’s Robert Ackroyd were kissing and flirting, among other things, after a post-concert party. One of Katy Perry’s friends told Gossip Cop the story was definitely inaccurate and there was absolutely no kissing between the friends.
Hollywood Life, a website frequently targeted by Gossip Cop, also celebrated Katy Perry’s 31st birthday.
“It’s an extra special day for KatyCats everywhere! Katy Perry turns 31 today, October 25, and you can bet she’s celebrating in style. And how could she not? The ‘Dark Horse’ singer is coming off another stellar year filled with new releases, headlining performances and new love (well, sort of),” says author Alyssa Montemurro.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Katy Perry will spend her birthday with Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
“In fact, she’s making her birthday weekend about Hillary Clinton: Perry will appear at the Democratic Party’s Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in Des Moines, Iowa, for the presidential candidate. She won’t be the only notable name at the event. Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton, will also be in attendance.”
Katy Perry seems to be the go-to celebrity for the Democrat political party. She seems very close with President Obama and she has been a huge supporter of Obamacare. She tweeted her approval for the healthcare plan, and President Obama Tweeted back to Perry in thanks of her support.

Katy Perry is currently working on her new album, which is expected to arrive in early 2016. Fans are hoping Ms. Perry will return to the rock roots of her first album. Perry is still basking in the critical acclaim from her Super Bowl performance in early 2015. The New York Times, the Dallas Morning News, and the Hollywood Reporter all raved about Perry’s performance along with most of Twitter in February earlier this year. Her Prism album and world tour have been huge successes, easily outselling albums and tours by Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. Do you want to give Katy Perry a shout-out for her birthday?
