Is Selena Gomez Already Leaving Fame Behind After Her ‘Revival’?

Is Selena Gomez already sick and tired of the fame despite the success of her new album Revival? That’s what the latest issue of OK! Magazine is claiming.

Rumors are circulating that Selena Gomez wants to leave both music and the fame behind. An alleged inside source told OK! Magazine that Gomez, 23, is already tired of making music.

“Underneath her spirited facade, Selena is a mess. She cries all the time thinking about the hypocrisy and backstabbing that comes with the entertainment industry. This album will be her last.”

The report goes on to say that Gomez only made Revival because she was under contract to make one more album. But that wouldn’t make sense since Gomez left Disney’s Hollywood Records for Capitol Records, so she could make music on her own terms. Plus, Gomez has been gushing for the past few months about how she can’t wait for her fans to hear her new music.

She even told E! News that waiting for the release of Revival is kind of like waiting to give birth to a baby.

“I feel like a pregnant woman at nine months. And I just want the baby to come out already because it means the world to me, and it’s so great for me to be actually heard.”

According to the Gossip Cop, the rumors about Selena Gomez leaving the music industry are simply not true. A source close to Gomez told the rumor-busting news site that the rumor is “absurd.” It’s unclear why OK! Magazine would go as far as to call Gomez a “mess.” It’s not like those rehab rumors ever became true. Earlier this month, Gomez revealed to Billboard that she underwent chemotherapy for lupus, which is why she had to cancel the remainder of her Stars Dance World Tour.

Selena even addressed those mean tabloid rumors that claim she went to rehab for her addictions to alcohol, pills, and Justin Bieber.

“I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy. That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke. I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re a**holes.’ I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again.”

Even with Selena’s unwillingness to leave the music industry, her second solo effort is doing well on the music charts. Revival came in at No. 2 as The Weeknd continues to soar with his chart-topping singles and sophomore release, Beauty Behind the Madness. The R&B singer has become the hottest artist in the U.S. with his rebound to No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart, while Selena soars to No. 2. This is the eighth consecutive week that The Weekend has topped the Artist 100, second to Selena’s BFF Taylor Swift.

Gomez’s Revival did soar to No. 1 on Top Album Sales, with 85,000 units sold. On Billboard‘s Hot 100, Gomez’s first two singles “Good For You” stays at No. 10, while “Same Old Love” jumps from No. 38 to No. 18. With numbers this good, why would Gomez want to leave the music industry?

Rounding out the Artist 100’s list is Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, Taylor Swift’s successful 1989 album, and The Game’s The Documentary 2. However, The Game’s latest album rose to No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Rap Albums charts, with 83,000 units sold in the U.S.

Camilla Siazon of the Cavalier Daily wrote a review on Gomez’s Revival. She calls the former Disney star’s new album “forgettable,” yet “formulaic,” but she does praise Gomez for changing her sound and making catchy music.
