The Second Test is taking place in Abu Dhabi, and initially, the same problem seemed to be occurring, with Pakistan rolling up 282 runs in the 90 Day One overs. But this time, at least, England did manage to secure four wickets, including a key dismissal of Pakistan’s Younis Shah by England paceman Mark Wood — before bowling the hosts out for 378 on Day Two.
England Captain Alastair Cook relied most heavily, however, on spinner Moeen Ali, who completed 20 overs on Day One.
When England open their batting on Day Three, they’ll still have their 24-year-old rising star Joe Root at the crease, attempting to build on his 76 not out total from Day Two. Cook, who scored a double century in his first innings in the First Test, was caught for 65 this time around.
