‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3’ Launch Trailer: Guns, Zombies, And Marshawn Lynch

The lead up to the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC only has a couple of weeks left. Activision released a launch gameplay trailer to continue to fuel the hype train for the anticipated shooter by showcasing all of the major gameplay components with a few choice quotes.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 launch gameplay trailer runs for nearly one minute and features cuts from the campaign, multiplayer, and ever-present Zombies mode. This all happens while also being serenaded by the Rolling Stones and their classic “Paint it Black” song.

The Black Ops 3 campaign will be the first to support four-player co-op from beginning to end, including four-player splitscreen. In order to better support this, developer Treyarch announced that all campaign missions will be unlocked from the beginning so they can be played in any order. This prevents situations where one player can’t join a friend who is further along in the game than they are.

The campaign also has its share of Hollywood actors and celebrities. Law and Order: SVU’s Christopher Meloni stars as the potential bad guy, John Taylor, and you can even spot Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch in the trailer. The NFL star plays a mercenary working for Taylor and is the first athlete to make an in-game appearance in Call of Duty though there have been several live-action appearances in commercials.

Multiplayer is always a major draw for Call of Duty games, and Black Ops 3 is no different. It will launch with 11 game modes to start and include the ability to create custom game types. There is also a brand new single-player mode called “Free Run” to let players compete with others via leaderboards on who can run through timed courses designed to test and improve movement skills.

Zombies is the other final pillar of Black Ops 3 and is shooting for a film noir horror-style this time. The popular cooperative mode stars actors Jeff Goldblum as a down and out magician, Ron Perlman as a boxer double-crossing the mob, Heather Graham as a femme fatale, and Neil McDonough as the cop on the take. Robert Picardo also makes an appearance as the Shadow Man.

Expect to hear more about Zombies in the next Black Ops Fridays livestream on October 23. Treyarch plans to talk about the co-op mode, show an extended trailer, and unbox the Juggernog Edition.

Don’t forget that Black Ops 3 will reward players who played previous Call of Duty games such as Black Ops 2, Ghosts, or Advanced Warfare based on far they progressed in those games. If you reach level 10 in any of the previous three games, you get a special emblem. Those who reach level 31 and above will get three emblems. Finally, those that Prestiged in any of the three games will receive a special weapon cammo that is made from some of the Prestige icons from Black Ops II.

In order to receive these rewards, players will need to reach the required levels in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Ghosts, or Advanced Warfare by 9 p.m. PT on November 5, 2015, per the official FAQ. They will also need to link their PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE, or Steam account to a Call of Duty account by the same time. The loyalty reward will only be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions of Black Ops 3.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will launch on November 7 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. For those who are not aware, the game will also be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but will not include the campaign, as previously covered by the Inquisitr, and will run at 30 frames per second instead of the usually expected 60 fps, according to an interview with Develop.
