Lindsay Lohan Accident: Actress “OK” After Crashing Porsche into 18-Wheeler

Actress Lindsay Lohan is reportedly “ok” after being involved in a major car crash on Friday in which her Porsche collided with an 18-wheel truck on a Southern California highway.

Following the accident, the 25-year-old Mean Girls star was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and then released.

According to TMZ, LiLo headed directly from the ward to her original destination — the set of ‘Liz and Dick’, a Lifetime movie on Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton — following her check up.

Lohan’s assistant – who was traveling in the passenger seat and went to hospital separately from the star – similarly escaped with just a few bruises and has been declared physically fine.

Lohan’s publicist released the following statement on Friday:

“Lindsay was involved in an automobile accident today on her way to the set. She was brought to Santa Monica UCLA hospital as a precaution.

“She is fine and was released less than two hours later and is already headed back to the set to resume work. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident.”

While details on the cause of the crash are still a bit hazy, Santa Monica Police Sgt. Richard Lewis said there was no sign Lohan was impaired at the time of the accident and said his agency would continue to investigate who was at fault in the wreck.

The truck’s driver was uninjured and that driver also showed no signs of driving under the influence, Lewis said.

The IBTimes points out that Friday’s car accident is the latest vehicular mishap for Lindsay Lohan who had her driver’s license restored in August 2010 after losing it because of a pair of DUI arrests in 2008.
