Marvel Movies List: My Predictions For The MCU’s 2020 Mystery Films

The Marvel movies list for 2020 has been in question ever since Kevin Feige’s infamous studio announced not only the Ant-Man sequel, but three new mystery films. They still haven’t revealed any details on what those three movies are, though they did reveal Captain Marvel would be pushed back in favor of the one they did reveal.

Ant-Man and the Wasp will be getting its turn just before the Avengers: Infinity Wars’ second part, after which Captain Marvel will make her cinematic debut, as revealed by Den of Geek. Considering how close the Ant-Man sequel will come to the finale of Infinity Wars, it seems highly likely that we’ll finally see Giant Man facing off with Thanos over the Infinity Gauntlet.

Some revelations previously reported by the Inquisitr are that Captain Marvel might star UFC champion Ronda Rousey, marking her (so far) second lead role appearance after the Road House remake. Also, the rumor that Fantastic Four is finally out of 20th Century Fox’s hands turned out to be false. The Marvel movies list is unlikely to include a Fantastic Four reboot.

Instead, much to the annoyance of moviegoers, Fox is allegedly still planning a sequel to the 2015 reboot of Fantastic Four, according to Cinema Blend.

Another rumor that was shot down shortly after it surfaced was the plans for a Hulk sequel or a possible Planet Hulk movie. Joss Whedon had stated that the problem with giving Hulk a standalone film was that the character is literally part monster, part superhero, and Universal still owns the rights. There is a lot of difficulty in finding the right balance, never mind putting the character on another planet full of others like him. It might have been interesting to see Hulk face off with the character teased in the Edward Norton film, The Leader, but the chances are highly unlikely that the Marvel movies list will reveal its first solo film featuring the “big green rage monster.”

Technically, Hulk has just as much of a chance to be in a standalone film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as another Fantastic Four reboot.

On the subject of characters whose rights have been given back to Marvel, Blade and Ghost Rider might be among the mystery films announced. Much like Daredevil, who is now the subject of a Marvel TV series, these other two have officially been dumped back into Marvel’s proverbial lap. The official Marvel movies list could be taking advantage of the roles that Nicolas Cage and Wesley Snipes lost.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance was so horrible that it almost made the original look like a masterpiece, and Blade: Trinity was just embarrassing. It is unknown if Wesley Snipes will return to the role he had before his arrest for tax evasion, but the odds are good that Nicolas Cage won’t be back.

Of course, this is speculation and both characters could end up in minor roles much like Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Falcon, and Hawkeye. For the sake of diversity, the Marvel movies list could still give Blade a starring role in 2020.

Other possibilities might include sequels to standalone favorites such as Dr. Strange and Black Panther. Every solo Marvel film character has been given a sequel or had one announced, including Ant-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy, but so far the “sorcerer supreme,” the super-soldier from Wakanda, the Inhumans, and Captain Marvel have yet to get sequels announced. There was also the end credits scene from Guardians of the Galaxy where we first saw the return of Howard the Duck, but it’s unlikely they’ll give him a starring role.

Perhaps Marvel is waiting to see how well the standalone films do before they decide to officially announce them?

So there it is. My predictions for the three mystery entries in the official Marvel movies list include Blade, Ghost Rider, Dr. Strange 2, Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, and Inhumans 2.

Now we just need to wait for Marvel to announce how accurate my predictions are.
