Will Selena Gomez Cancel Tour Plans Because Of Lupus?

Rumors are swirling that Selena Gomez could be forced to cancel her tour plans because of her ongoing battle with lupus. The “Same Old Love” singer revealed to Billboard earlier this month that she underwent chemotherapy treatment for the autoimmune disease, which caused her to cancel her Stars Dance World Tour early.

Now the same thing could happen for her Revival World Tour. New reports are claiming that Selena Gomez’s parents fear for her health with her next major tour. Gomez revealed on Instagram earlier this month that she is planning to launch her Revival tour to promote her new album by the same name, but her mother, Mandy, and stepfather, Brian Teefey, would rather that she focus on her health and well-being, an alleged inside source told Life & Style Magazine.

“Her parents are terribly upset that she’s planning a new concert tour and are begging her to reconsider. They don’t think her body can handle that.”

But Selena Gomez doesn’t care what her parents think. In an effort to grow up in the spotlight, she fired her parents as her managers in April, 2014. It’s clear that Selena wants to do this tour for her fans, called her “Selenators.” She probably feels like she owes them because she had to cancel her tour early the last time. But the insider claims that Selena is going to do what Selena wants.

“She has a new sense of empowerment and freedom. Nobody can really tell her anything right now.”

In her recent interview with Billboard, the 23-year-old actress and singer talked about her treatment for lupus. Several reports claimed that Gomez was in rehab for her alleged addiction to drugs, alcohol, and Justin Bieber. Gomez revealed to the magazine the reason why she wanted to keep a low-profile during that difficult time in her life.

“I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy. That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke. I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re a**holes.’ I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again.”

Selena said that even though she’s feeling much better these days, and that her lupus is in remission, she still has to take good care of herself.

“You’ll have it forever. It’s kind of one of those situations. You just have to take care of yourself.”

It looks like Gomez is moving forward with the plans to have her Revival tour. She took to her social media accounts to announce that the tickets for her upcoming tour are finally on sale.

“Tickets for the 2016 #REVIVALTour are on-sale TODAY! Can’t wait to see each and everyone one of you!! #2016 #RevivalTour – link in bio xx.”

According to Ticketmaster’s website, tickets already went on sale on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. EST, but some of Gomez’s fans may still have a chance to get tickets.

It was just two weeks ago when Selena took to Instagram to make the first official announcement about her world tour. She shared a cute clip of herself with the caption: “The rumors are true…#REVIVALTour is coming 2016! Visit link in bio for info on early tix & stay tuned for more!” Gomez even said that her tour will start in the U.S. and Canada next summer with more dates added in late 2016.

In addition, she took to Twitter to let her fans know exactly when and where she’ll be touring to promote her new album.

Selena Gomez’s last tour, The Stars Dance Tour, was her very first concert tour in support of her debut solo album, Stars Dance. It was also her first solo world tour, due to her break from her band Selena Gomez & the Scene. The tour kicked off on Aug. 14, 2013, in Vancouver, and included dates throughout North America and Europe. Selena started canceling tour dates in September, 2013, and again in January and February of 2014, due to concerns over her health.
