Selena Gomez Talks Lesbian Romance Rumors, Admits She Has ‘Absolutely’ Questioned Her Sexuality

Selena Gomez found herself at the center of speculation last year after images surfaced of her and Cara Delevingne bathing together. Despite all of the rumors surrounding these controversial photos, Gomez recently opened up about her sexuality in a candid interview with Pride Source.

Although many people would have cringed at the thought of their private life being put on display for all the world to see, Gomez stated that she actually had no problems with all the buzz that was generated over the photos.

“Honestly, I loved it. I didn’t mind it,” she told the outlet. “Especially because they weren’t talking about other people in my life for once, which was wonderful.”

Despite the speculation that Gomez and Delevingne were in some kind of romantic relationship, it has since been revealed that the two are only friends. According to People, Gomez went on to discuss her relationship with Delevingne and how she enjoys the fun times they share.

“Honestly, though, she’s incredible and very open and she just makes me open,” the singer stated. “She’s so fun and she’s just extremely adventurous, and sometimes I just want that in my life, so I didn’t mind it. I loved it.”

Meanwhile, Gomez has certainly experienced her fair share of relationship speculation throughout the years. In addition to her ties with Delevingne, the “Good for You” singer has been rumored to be with a number of Hollywood’s hottest guys, including Nick Jonas, Taylor Lautner, and was in a long-term, highly publicized relationship with Justin Bieber.

In regards to her dealing with her own sexual identity following the stories about her and Delevingne, Selena Gomez revealed that she definitely questioned her sexuality at one point in her life.

“Oh, I think everybody does, no matter who they are,” Gomez admitted in the interview. “I do, yeah, of course. Absolutely. I think it’s healthy to gain a perspective on who you are deep down, question yourself and challenge yourself; it’s important to do that.”

For her part, the Disney alum went on to provide some background on why she is so open about her own sexuality, which included how she was raised and being exposed to a diverse amount of people.

“You have to understand: my mother is absolutely fantastic and she worked at a modeling agency when I was a very young girl, so every Sunday I would have brunch with her and all of her gays, and I just remember a lot of mimosas,” she stated. “It was the best. So, I’ve been around it my whole life and, you know, I love it. I have to tell you: on my 16th birthday, my mom had a bunch of drag queens come out and they sang ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)’ and it was sooo funny.”

At the same time, Gomez didn’t shy away about talking about the impact she has made on the gay community. In fact, although she stated that she has never dated a gay man, she went on to praise Jonas for the strides he made with the gay community.

“It was kind of incredible for somebody to step out of their zone for a minute. It’s really incredible to see what he’s done,” she stated. “He clearly has had a love and compassion for everyone, and I think that’s great.”
