Is Lamar Odom Dead? NBA Star Continues To Fight For His Life Amid Death Report, Brain Swelling, Bobbi Kristina Comparison

Lamar Odom’s prognosis continues to worsen as he remains in a coma at Las Vegas’ Sunrise Hospital, with many of his organs failing. With estranged wife Khloe Kardashian at his side, Lamar Odom is fighting for his life, and while he has held on for the last three days, a new report by TMZ on October 16 claims that even if he makes it out alive, Lamar Odom has “virtually no chance” of leading a normal life.

Lamar Odom has been at the hospital since Tuesday afternoon, following a shocking moment at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch South. According to a TMZ report that day, Lamar Odom was found by two women who had entered his VIP suite at the brothel in Nevada to find he was unconscious. After their discovery, one of the staffers flipped Odom to his side and discovered the former professional athlete had mucus coming out of his nose and mouth. Once paramedics arrived, Lamar Odom was taken to a nearby hospital, where he received a breathing tube after he was stabilized. From there, doctors hoped to airlift him to a second facility, but due to his six-foot-10 frame, they were unable. Instead, Lamar Odom was taken via ambulance to the Sunrise Hospital, where he has been ever since.

Hours after news of Lamar Odom’s hospitalization hit the web, Kardashian took a private jet to Las Vegas with her sister, Kim, and mother Kris Jenner; sisters Kourtney and Kylie arrived hours later. Since then, several members of Lamar Odom’s family have also traveled to Las Vegas to be at his side, including his two children, 17-year-old Destiny and 13-year-old Lamar Jr., as well as their mother, Liza Morales, and Lamar Odom’s aunt.

In TMZ’s latest report, doctors have reportedly listed Lamar Odom’s chances at survival at 50/50 and revealed he’s shown “absolutely no improvement” despite reports to the contrary. According to the site, Lamar Odom’s “deadly combination” of cocaine and an herbal substitute for Viagra is his biggest issue.

“He’s in dire straits,” one source explained.

Lamar Odom was “entirely unresponsive” throughout the day on Thursday, and four of his vital organs are still failing with “no signs of improvement.” In addition, Lamar Odom is still in need of assistance when it comes to his breathing, and his doctors believe his brain function has been significantly reduced.

As Lamar Odom remains hospitalized in Las Vegas, the Kardashians has flown several specialists from Los Angeles to meet with the doctors currently treating Lamar Odom in hopes of finding a way to get him back to health.

Still, the prognosis remains as is, and doctors have reportedly told the family that with each day that passes, the chances for Lamar Odom’s recovery becomes slimmer.

While Lamar Odom is by most accounts still alive, death rumors have continued to surface since he was admitted to the hospital on October 13.

“Retired NBA player Lamar Odom has passed away this evening at Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada,” a site by the name of TMZ Today recently reported. “Lamar Odom passed away with his ex wife, Khloe Kardashian and ex mother in law Kris Jenner at his side.”

Around the same time, Us Weekly offered the following health update.

“[Lamar Odom]’s condition has not changed. They still can’t tell what kind of brain damage he has. There’s still brain swelling. They are waiting for the organs to start working again — his kidneys are still in dialysis.”

Lamar Odom’s situation is being compared to that of Bobbi Kristina, who passed away earlier this year. However, Lamar Odom wasn’t without oxygen to the brain for nearly as long as Kristina, which offers some hope.
