Lamar Odom, Khloe Kardashian Still Married, Life Support Decision Could Fall On Her

Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian are still legally married as their divorce has not yet gone through. According to People Magazine, the reality star and the former NBA player filed divorce papers back in July, but it has not yet been approved by the court.

Khloe has been by Lamar’s side as he remains intubated in a Nevada hospital. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star also has her mom, Kris Jenner, and her sister, Kim Kardashian, with her as she keeps vigil by Lamar’s bedside. According to WGN Chicago, Rev. Jesse Jackson visited Lamar in the hospital, and said that the athlete is on life support after being found unconscious in a room at a brothel.

However, there does seem to be some good news despite the doom and gloom that the media has been publishing.

“[Lamar] has some responsiveness now. Apparently from what the doctor said, he was much better off today than yesterday,” Rev. Jackson told the media outside the hospital on Wednesday. Friends and family are praying and trying to stay positive, hoping Lamar can “bounce back,” but other reports indicate that Lamar’s chances of coming out of this are 50/50 at this point.

Lamar Odom is currently being treated for a drug overdose. Doctors have confirmed that they found traces of cocaine in Lamar’s system, and witnesses say that he had track marks on his arms, according to TMZ. News that Lamar was using drugs is not surprising, however, as he has struggled with addiction for many years. In fact, many believe that Khloe would have stayed with Lamar if he went to rehab and got himself cleaned up.

Kardashian has been as supportive of Lamar as she can be, and has admitted to still loving and caring about him deeply, long after she made the difficult decision to leave him.

“It was a great joy to see her giving him embraces, giving him care and being by his side… She’s strong and she’s hopeful and she’s acting and loving and by his side,” Rev. Jackson said of Khloe.

Since Khloe and Lamar are still married, it’s possible that any decision to remove Lamar from life support would fall on Khloe. It is important to not that it’s unknown if Lamar had a will, or if any such details were ironed out in any way. TMZ reports that Khloe is indeed the one who is making medical decisions for Lamar — and that’s not something easy to deal with given the circumstances themselves.

“Since they are still husband and wife, Khloe is in a position to make medical decisions for her husband, and we’re told she has already made several of them,” reports TMZ.

Although Khloe filed for divorce in December 2013, Lamar refused to sign papers, reportedly desperate to hang on to his marriage.

Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian have had a very special relationship over the years and were still in contact despite their decision to split. Sources say that Khloe is a complete mess over what has happened. According to People Magazine, this is absolutely heartbreaking for the reality star, and for her family, all of whom were very close to Lamar.

“Khloé is very, very upset. She could barely keep it together as she headed to Las Vegas last night,” shared a source. “You can tell that Lamar is still so special to her,” the source added.

Fans continue to keep Lamar in their thoughts, and everyone is just hoping for the best.
