‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ Star Lady Gaga Says Role Makes Her Feel ‘Alive’

With Lady Gaga’s upcoming role as a blood drinking hotel manager in American Horror Story: Hotel, the newly minted actress recently revealed just how much the role has meant to her. In fact, during the premiere in Los Angeles for the new season, Gaga took some time to discuss her role, and how she believes the part has made her “feel so alive.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Grammy Award-winning artist told the media that she has been very pleased with her fellow cast members and how they have all made her feel very comfortable on set.

“It’s been so fun… Everybody on this cast has been really open and available to me in a very honest way, so I’m able to be myself in a way I feel like I haven’t been in a really long time, so they are just making me feel so alive.”

Gaga is set to appear as the head of Hotel Cortez during this season of American Horror Story. Her character, named Countess Elizabeth, is reminiscent of a vampire in that she drinks blood, and is very active sexually. Beyond that, little else is known about her character.

At the same time, Gaga went on to credit Ryan Murphy for his vision on the show and making it something she has thoroughly enjoyed being a part of. “I’m just really happy to be a part of it,” she said. “I like being a part of someone else’s vision — it’s really exhilarating.”

Gaga’s role in American Horror Story: Hotel is the first time she will be starring as a lead character in a major TV series. Additionally, it also marks the first time she has been to a premiere as a cast member. In light of these facts, Gaga took to Twitter to express her excitement to be a part of the event.

“Can’t believe I’m about to go to my 1st premiere as an actress!” she wrote. “I couldn’t be more honored to be a part of this talented magical cast.”

In addition to her posts on Twitter, Gaga also shared a few images on Instagram in celebration of the after party. “When u show up to the party early to make sure it’s perfect for Ryan Murphy because you love him so much you want everything to be just right,” she captioned a photo of herself in a bathtub.

Meanwhile, along with Gaga’s own excitement to be a part of the series, her co-stars have also expressed their approval of her talents as an actress. According to Billboard, Matt Bomer was one of those cast members who thought Gaga did exceptionally well with her role, and even admitted that they called her by her real name, Stefani Germanotta, while on set.

“It’s sort of takes the mythos and all the preconceptions of Lady Gaga out of the equation so we can just relate to each other like human beings and actors in a scene,” Bomer stated. “She’s so approachable that she totally just was there for us… at by the time the cameras were rolling and we were in a scene together, we weren’t thinking about the fact that you were doing a scene with Lady Gaga.”

Along with Gaga, the new season of the hit horror series will see the return of Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, and Kathy Bates. Additionally, the season will include an appearance by the British supermodel Naomi Campbell, which marks the first time she will make an appearance in the series.

The new season of American Horror Story: Hotel continues tonight and every Wednesday on FX.
