If you were paying attention during Sony’s E3 2012 press conference earlier this week, you likely picked up on the fact that Sony didn’t have a whole lot to say about the Vita. A few new titles were shown, sure, but the Vita was largely glossed over in favor of other topics.

The reason for this, Sony president Shuhei Yoshida explained in an interview with VG247, is that the company was aiming to make its press conference more compact than years past, and so there wasn’t a whole lot of time to talk about the PlayStation Vita. That being said, Yoshida thinks that Sony could have done more to showcase its latest handheld.

“It was our fault for not spending enough time on PS Vita content,” Yoshida said. “We have 25 new games on the show floor, playable during E3. And many of them are fantastic-looking games; from our own library is LittleBigPlanet on Vita, which looks fantastic. We could have shown it off, or SoundShapes – coming up in August; it plays great – or some third-party [game] – Jet Set Radio on Vita is amazingly sharp and playable. So we could have shown more during the press conference.”

The biggest announcement regarding the PlayStation Vita, apart from the reveal of Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation and the new white PlayStation Vita that it will be bundled with, was the introduction of PSOne Classics to the Vita.

Do you think Sony is doing enough to keep the PlayStation Vita going, or does more need to be done?
