Kelly Ripa Honored With Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame


Kelly Ripa was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday. The honor coincides with her 15th year as host on Live! Earlier this year, the actress, talk show host, and television producer won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host.

Kelly Ripa is best known as the co-host of the syndicated morning talk show Live! with Kelly and Michael. But Kelly is also known for being on the cast of the daytime drama series All My Children, as well as her role as Faith Fairfield on Hope & Faith. In addition, Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos own a New York-based production company, called Milojo.

ABC News‘ coverage of the presentation included an introduction by ABC host Jimmy Kimmel, and congratulations from Kelly’s husband Mark Consuelos. Actor Joel McHale was also on hand to join Kelly at the ceremony in front of the El Capitan Theatre.

Kelly shared a few thoughts and paid homage to those who influenced her career.

“You have to surround yourself with people that are better than you and that’s what I’ve managed to do in my career. I joined this incredible acting community in All My Children, and it was a brilliant ensemble cast.”

Ripa also offered her grateful recognition and praise for some of the people in her life that have helped, and continue to help her throughout the years.

“Then I got to sit next to Regis Philbin, who taught me how to be a storyteller. Now, I get to share my mornings with my Michaels. Both Gelman… and of course, nothing makes me happier than starting my day with my Michael Strahan, who has made me a better person.”

According to an article in Daily News, Kelly Ripa received the 2,561st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, honoring a career that has brought her four Emmys and 20 Daytime Emmy nominations and for her work as an actress and host.

Kelly Ripa joined the cast of the ABC daytime drama All My Children in 1990, portraying Hayley Vaughan. Kelly remained a cast member on the daytime drama through 2002. In 1993, she received a Daytime Emmy nomination for outstanding younger actress in a drama series. She was also nominated in the outstanding supporting actress in a drama series category in 1999 and 2002.

Kelly Ripa also received Daytime Emmy nominations from 2005-2009 for co-hosting the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade with Regis Philbin, and later winning in 2006. Kelly starred in the 2003-2006 ABC comedy Hope & Faith and appeared in the films Marvin’s Room and The Stand-In, as well.

On Feb. 5, 2001, Kelly succeeded Kathie Lee Gifford as a host of what was then known as Live! with Regis and Kelly. Kelly and co-host Regis Philbin received Daytime Emmy nominations as outstanding talk show host from 2002-2006 and 2008-2012, and went on to win a couple of Emmys in 2011 and 2012. Ripa and current co-host Michael Strahan won in the category this year.

“It all began with All My Children. And All My Children is where I met the man that I’ve been married to for almost 20 years, the love of my life, the man who taught me how to be a person…and we have three of the most beautiful children that I am so proud of on the planet, Joaquin and Laura and Michael.”

Kelly Ripa is a 45-year-old mother of three, and has been married to her husband Mark Consuelos since 1996. Throughout the years, Kelly Ripa has charmed viewers with her bubbly personality, as well as her kind and caring spirit.

On Monday, as she accepted the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Kelly thanked her family declaring that she is certain there are so many more people who are deserving of the honor.

Kelly Ripa added that it would be hard for anyone to find an individual who is more appreciative of receiving this most gratifying recognition and honor.
