Watch St. Louis Cardinals Vs. Chicago Cubs Game 3 Live Online: Streaming Info For Pivotal NLDS Game

Baseball fans will want to watch live online as the St. Louis Cardinals enter Wrigley Field looking to get an edge on the Chicago Cubs in their deadlocked National League Division Series, setting up a potential clinching game on Tuesday. But to get there they’ll not only have to overcome a hungry Cubs team with exactly the same goal — but they must beat the Cubs starter Jake Arrieta, who has proven unbeatable since August and has not allowed a run in his last 31 innings pitched.

How dominant has Arrieta been coming down the stretch and into the postseason? He pitched a complete game shutout against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the NL Wild Card one-game playoff on October 7, which followed three scoreless outings to end the season, including another compete game shutout over the Milwaukee Brewers on September 22.

Since August 5, the 29-year-old Arrieta has made 13 starts including the Wild Card game, allowing a total of seven runs — and those seven runs were concentrated into just four games, meaning that in nine of his last 13 starts, opposing teams have not even been able to get on the scoreboard against Arrieta.

On the downside for the Cubs, their Rookie of the Year candidate Kris Bryant has started the postseason with zero hits and four strikeouts in 11 at bats, while star shortstop Starlin Castro has just two base knocks in 11 at bats.

Arrieta has not faced the Cardinals, who led the Major Leagues with 100 wins in 2015, since July 7, when he got the victory giving up two runs on even hits in 6 and two-thirds innings. Overall, Arietta faced the Cardinals four times with a 2-1 record and a 2.42 ERA.

The Cardinals counter with 24-year-old 17-game winner Michael Wacha, whose September unfortunately — for Cardinals fans — was a mirror image of Arrieta’s. Wacha hit a serious slump, with only one quality start in five September outings, and a 7.88 ERA for the season’s final month.

Pitching just 24 innings in September, Wacha surrendered seven home runs and walked a staggering 18 batters, fanning 19.

And in a final sign indicating that Monday’s pitching match-up favors the Cubs, Wacha faced the Cardinals’ rivals from Chicago twice in September, managing just nine innings pitched while coughing up 10 runs including four home runs and walking seven.

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo and shortstop Castro have hit Wacha at a.455 clip in their careers, as Wacha has compiled a lifetime 4.86 ERA against Chicago.

And to make matters worse, the Cardinals need to win on the road after failing to protect their home field advantage, dropping Game Two to the Cubs 6-3 thanks to a five-run explosion in the second inning and 4 and two-thirds scoreless innings from their bullpen in support of starter Kyle Hendricks who lasted 4 and one-third innings and getting touched for three solo home runs.
