Kanye West For Speaker Of The House? Obama Seeks Yeezy Push

Kanye West told the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards viewers in a rambling speech in August that he wants to launch his political career.

CNN reported that Kanye West could get his chance with current vacancy for United States Speaker of the House, President Barack Obama joked about the rapper at a San Diego Democratic National Convention fundraiser Saturday.

Obama halfheartedly pushed West, who’s nickname is “Yeezy,” could make his move with the opening at an event where Kanye was set to perform.

“A little bit later you’re going to hear from a guy who I hear has been talking about launching a potential political career. You may have heard of this. Kanye is thinking about running for Speaker of the House. It couldn’t get any stranger…But in case Kanye is serious about this whole POTUS thing – or as he calls it ‘peezy’ – I do have advice for him.”

Obama continued to joke with West about his potential political career. Speaking about his 2010 album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, the President told Kanye that he needed to avoid gaffes like that and stay on-topic in the future, the New York Times reported.

“Second — this is a second important tip — saying you have a beautiful, dark, twisted fantasy, that’s what’s known as off-message. You can’t say things like that. A lot of people have lost their congressional seats saying stuff like this.”

Obama told Kanye that his experience dealing with reality stars could come in handy, a nod to wife Kim Kardashian-West. Obama told West he would spend time “dealing with some strange characters who behave like they’re on a reality TV show.”

“Do you really think this country is going to elect a black guy from the south side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the United States? That is crazy.”

Kanye West wasn’t the only person famous individual at the pricey affair. The Golden State Warriors made an appearance with the NBA Championship trophy in front of the 1,300 in attendance at the $250 to $10,000 per person fundraiser.

West might be able to use Kim’s Instagram account to further his run as Kim often pushes products on the second-most popular Instagram account in the world. She has recently pushed her new app and website via the account. She also ran afoul of pharmaceutical rules on the platform, having to re-post a picture where she praised a morning sickness medicine without posting the potential side effects.

Kanye and his wife are expecting their second child this year. West also took to Instagram to silence critics about her pregnancy, bearing her breast and butt in the process.

As potential replacements for current Speaker of the House John Boehner have dropped from consideration, candidates outside of the current House of Representatives group – such as Kanye West – have emerged as possibilities, NBC News reported.

While a Kanye West candidacy may not be considered, a real possibility remains the next Speaker of the House could be picked from outside of the current Congress. Kevin McCarthy – the presumed shoe-in to replace Boenher – abruptly pulled his name from the replacement consideration last week.

Other current members of Congress seem less interested in the Speaker of the House position, leaving speculation to run rampant about the possibilities. While it may be unlikely, having Kanye West as the next Speaker of the House would certainly produce entertainment, to say the least.
