Jessa Duggar Seewald Discusses The Naming Of Baby Quincy, Prepares For Birth

Though the Duggar family has a tradition of choosing a letter theme for the naming of their children, Jessa Seewald says that the Seewalds will be nixing that tradition and moving on to a new one. Though a letter theme will not be used, Jessa says that they will be sticking to a theme for the naming of their children in the future which will center around “great heroes of the Christian faith” and family names. Letter themed naming isn’t the only tradition that Jessa is kicking to the curb, the mom-to-be is also keeping the baby’s gender a secret until birth but did reveal the baby’s nickname, which is Quincy.

The Duggar Family Blog reveals that Jessa and Ben Seewald plan to nix the letter theme for naming their future brood of children. Though they don’t plan to pick a special letter for their family, the tradition did result in an adorable nickname for their unborn baby. Jessa reveals that the baby has been nicknamed Quincy after jokingly mulling over the use of the letter Q for their family name.

“When we first found out that we were expecting a baby, Ben and I were talking about a letter theme for our kids and Ben suggested, ‘Why don’t we go with the letter ‘Q’?’ lol! Of course that was a joke, but from that point, Ben started calling our little one ‘Quincy,’ and the nickname just sorta stuck.”

Though Jessa has said she won’t be claiming a letter theme to use in naming their children, she did note that a theme will be used. The Duggar daughter says that the Seewalds will be naming their children after “great heroes of the Christian faith” and also family names. Jessa says she has turned to the large Duggar brood to help with the naming process and that she has been soliciting throughout her pregnancy.

“We like the idea of using names with lots of meaning behind them, such as names of people who have been great heroes of the Christian faith. And we like the idea of incorporating family names as well.”

With Baby Quincy scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks, fans have wondered if the Seewalds have revealed the baby’s gender to anyone in the family. Jessa says that they have not and that the only two people that know Baby Quincy’s gender are she and Ben. The soon-to-be mom says that she is looking forward to the big reveal which won’t take place until after the birth.

“Ben and I had an ultrasound at 19 weeks to find out our baby’s gender. Ben was okay with keeping it a surprise, but I just couldn’t wait. I had to know! We decided at that point that we would keep it to ourselves and let it be a surprise for the rest of the Seewald and Duggar extended families when the baby is born.”

Jessa says it has been more difficult than she expected to keep the gender secret and has to make a conscience effort not to use gender pronounces such as he/she when discussing Baby Quincy.
