Mariah Carey: Directorial Debut And Setting Sights On A Christmas Concert Comeback With Mac Lipstick And Literature To Match

Mariah Carey has become associated with the holidays over the past three decades that she’s been the superstar singer she is. This all stems from her massively popular Christmas album she released in the 90s that includes the timeless tune “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” and most recently, due to her Christmas specials and last year’s bumpy performance at the Rockefellar Center Holiday Concert. Fortunately, Carey has rebounded nicely from that rocky event that had everyone wondering if the diva had lost her pipes for good.

Mariah is continuing on with her association with the cheerful and festive season by taking over the director’s chair to be the shot-caller behind the scenes of an anticipated holiday special. The production, which will be called Christmas Melody, will star Carey’s favorite Mean Girls actress Lacey Chabert.

The Daily Mail notes that filming has already begun for the project which is underway in Cincinnati, Ohio. Although Mariah is happy to give orders to the cast, it’s clear that the 45-year-old isn’t quite ready to get on camera yet. As for her choice of lead actress, Lacey Chabert was Mariah’s one request before agreeing to take on her directorial duties. Carey adores the 33-year-old who portrayed Gretchen Weiners in the Mean Girls film.

Although Mariah is not supposed to appear in the film, her music will be included throughout the production. We can expect to set our eyes on Carey’s efforts December 19 on the Hallmark Channel.

Additionally, Mariah has fittingly decided to launch a new lipstick shade within her line of lip colors that she’s teamed up with Mac to produce. The new shade will launch over the holiday season as well. The publication shares the new rosy shade the diva will attach her image to.

“Mariah recently launched her own lipstick line with beauty brand Mac. Paying tribute to the era that launched her career, the star has created a ‘beautiful champagne shimmer’ lipstick inspired by the nineties. Just like her new movie, the product is set to be released just in time for the holiday season.”

Lastly, fans can expect to see Mariah singing her heart out to the Christmas classics as well as her own original songs, during her upcoming holiday concert that is highly anticipated, of course. Entertainment Weekly shared the news in regards to the shows and dates that fans can catch sight of the songstress on.

“Carey is set to return to New York’s Beacon Theatre in December for a five-date run of shows. The second annual All I Want For Christmas Is You concert series will feature Carey’s extensive Christmas catalog, including 1994’s Merry Christmas and 2010’s Merry Christmas II You. Dates include Dec. 8, 9, 14, 15, and 17.”

What else can we expect for this holiday-loving musical powerhouse? Well Carey is also releasing a children’s book just in time for the giving season that will include lyrics from her biggest Christmas song, which has become more like an anthem to many over the holidays. Surely Carey’s adorable little ones will enjoy their mom’s literary efforts.

Carey has seemingly bounced back from last year’s difficult circumstances, which involved filing for divorce from Nick Cannon and giving a terrible performance at a nationally televised event. The talent has not only found herself a new man, but has taken on a successful residency in Las Vegas, released a greatest hits album, and is now turning up the holiday spirit and work ethic with all of her holday-based projects she has on the go. Carey is sure to continue to be a success for decades to come with her determined nature and interest in taking on new endeavors.
