Georgia Woman Driver Goes On Rampage In Intersection, Driving In Circles And Ramming Police Car

A Georgia woman went on a bizarre rampage in a Gastonia intersection, driving around in circles and even ramming a police car before finally being dealt some karma.

The incident happened on Thursday afternoon, with the woman first being spotted driving around in circles at the intersection of Ozark Avenue and North New Hope Road. Other drivers swerved out of the way as she drove through other lanes and across the median, at times causing other drivers to slam on their brakes.

The bizarre outburst went viral after several people captured it on video, which has been shared across the internet and went viral on Reddit. In one video, a woman is heard frantically calling police as the driver continues to put other lives at risk, even striking a passing car at one point.

As the Gaston Gazette reported, the incident got even more bizarre once police arrived. The video shows the Gastonia driver approaching the police car and stopping when the officer gets out.

The report noted the exchange.

“When a Gastonia officer arrived on scene, the woman stopped,” Aldridge said. “When the officer asked her for her name, she replied, “Faith, hope, and love.”

“The officer tried to calm her, before she backed up and rammed into his car, according to police.”

After the Georgia driver struck the police car, some of the pedestrians near the intersection grew more worried. In one video, a man can be heard pleading with police to shoot the woman before she could hit any more cars or put other lives at danger.

But karma appeared to catch up with the driver. After ramming the police car two times, she lost control and ended up sliding down a steep embankment, where her car overturned. The woman appeared to be unhurt, and was still struggling inside her car with her foot still on the gas peddle, causing the wheels to spin.

Two men pulled the woman out of the car while the police officer put her in handcuffs. Witnesses said the woman was singing “Jesus loves the little children of the world” as she was pulled from the car.

Video of the incident can be seen below, but be warned that there is some bad language.

Many people who commented on the video said that it appears the woman was in the midst of a mental health episode, and the police reports seem to give credence to that theory. Some commented that mental health services were lacking in that area of Georgia, which may have contributed.

“Who is this lady’s doctor? What was she on? We have a screwed up mental health system and too many meds are being given without proper monitoring,” one commenter wrote. “She should definitely find another doc. But the trouble with that is that Gaston and Cleveland Counties have very few competent psychiatrist.”

Many praised police for their handling of the strange situation, as they were able to stop the woman without hurting her or allowing her to harm anyone else. At one point, a video shows a police officer with his weapon drawn and pointed toward the woman, but he held off and did not fire. It was only seconds later that the woman’s car was disabled, without anyone else hurt.

“Officers did everything in their power to stop her from harming or killing anyone,” said Gastonia Police Capt. Rodney Aldridge.

Police have not yet named the Gastonia woman who struck the police car at the intersection. It appears that no one was hurt during her driving rampage.
