Watch New York Mets Vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Live Online: Game One Streaming, NL Division Series

The marquee matchup of the Major League Baseball postseason gets underway Friday evening, and fans can watch live online as the New York Mets head west to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game One of a series matching the NL’s two big-market, glamour franchises — and game that features of duel between two of the game’s finest young pitchers.

Both Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers and Jacob deGrom of the Mets are 27 years old. But Kershaw already has four NL ERA titles, three Cy Young Awards, an MVP award and four seasons of postseason pitching experience.

deGrom is just in his second year in the Major Leagues and though he won the NL Rookie of the Year Award in 2014, and was an All Star this year, will be going up against the far more experienced pitcher — in Kershaw’s home ballpark.

While the two never pitched against each other this year, deGrom faced the Dodgers once this season, getting no decision despite giving up no runs on just two hits back on July 26.

Kershaw faced the Mets twice, with a complete-game, three hit shutout and a seven-inning, one-run no-decision.

In other words, the Mets vs. Dodgers NLDS opener looks like it could be a pretty good pitcher’s duel.

Since Kershaw pitched that complete game shutout on July 23, the Mets have revamped their offense and pose a whole new set of challenges for the Dodgers’ lefty ace — challenges of which Kershaw is very much aware.

“There’s a lot of guys that I’ll be seeing for the first time this season,” Kershaw said told ABC News on Thursday. “Definitely a completely different team. Obviously, a lot better than what we faced in July.”

Game time is set for 6:30 Pacific Time on Friday, October 9, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California — 9:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

Even with the Mets revamped offense, keyed by trade deadline pickup Yoenis Cespedes, pitching remains the strength of both of these big-market teams, whose staffs were almost equal in the ERA department, the Mets ranking fifth in the NL at 3.43 and the Dodgers just a tick behind at 3.44.

In the WHIP department — walks plus hits per inning pitched — the Mets and Dodgers were again separated by very little. The Mets were second in the NL with a WHIP of 1.179. The Dodgers, again, were just one place beneath New York at 1.184.

If Clayton Kershaw has an Achilles heel, postseason play has been it. Under the bright lights of playoff baseball, Kershaw has posted a 1-5 record in 11 appearances with a bloated 5.12 ERA. In last season’s disastrous NLDS against the St. Louis Cardinals, Kershaw bombed in two starts as the Cardinals plastered him for 11 runs in just 12 2/3 innings.

If momentum means anything heading into postseason play — and most baseball players will contend that it does not — the Dodgers have a definite advantage, winning their final four games of the season and five of their last six.

The Mets, by contrast, hobbled to the finish line, losing five of their final six regular season contests.
