Drake’s ‘Views From The 6’ Album Is On The Way, Fans Beg For Star-Studded Collaborations

Drake may have surprised fans with not one, but two chart-topping album releases thus far in 2015, including If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late and his collaborative mixtape with Future, What A Time To Be Alive, but that isn’t stopping fans from pressuring Drake to drop his highly-anticipated studio album, Views From the 6, immediately.

While Drake revealed in his September interview with The Fader that Views From the 6 would be dropping “imminently,” fans have taken to social media to fuel speculation on everything from a release date for the project to which collaborations they feel will ultimately make the final cut on the album.

Despite Drake’s decision to keep mum regarding the details of Views From the 6, several rumors have emerged regarding who may appear on Drake’s album, the type of sound Drake has planned for the new project, and when fans can expect to see Views From the 6 finally drop in stores.

In regard to rumored guest artists, Mic reports that Drake has plans to feature collaborations with both Kendrick Lamar and Tinashe on his new album, while Billboard speculates that Willow Smith may make a guest appearance.

Beyoncé has also been heavily rumored to appear on Views From the 6 after collaborating with Drake on her track, “Mine.” It appears Drake has confirmed those rumors himself by dropping his collaborative track, “Can I,” alongside Beyoncé earlier this week.

While “Can I” is the only track that has been confirmed to appear on Views From the 6, fans are still holding out hope that Drake and Rihanna may have secretly teamed up for a collaboration following the success of their 2011 hit, “Take Care.”

Rumors of a Drake and Rihanna collaboration went into overdrive in May after photographers caught Rihanna leaving a NYC recording studio where she and Drake allegedly spent hours working on new music together, Daily Mail reports.

Neither Rihanna nor Drake have confirmed rumors of a musical collaboration, but fans are still gushing over the possibility of a Drake and Rihanna reunion on either Drake’s Views From the 6 or Rihanna’s highly-anticipated eighth studio album, ANTI.

One fan took to Twitter to explain, “I really pray there’s a rihanna & drake collaboration, on ‘views from the 6,’ or I’ll still buy it. almost lied to myself.”Another fan adds, “@rihanna and @drake I need another collaboration please it’s been long.”

Similarly, another fan asks, “Drake and Rihanna haven’t blessed us with a collaboration in a while…Can’t they break the sound waves with one more?”

In addition to some star-studded collaborations, rumors have suggested that Drake is taking on a completely different sound for his new album.

Drake explained to The Fader that he and producer Noah “40” Shebib have “higher standards” for Views From the 6 than they did his “retail mixtape,” If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.

Reflecting on the difference between Views and his last album, Drake admits that If You’re Reading This was “a bit broken.”

“There’s corners cut, in the sense of fluidity and song transition, and just things that we spend weeks and months on that make our albums what they are.”

In addition, a source explains to Billboard that fans can certainly expect Drake to draw “a lot of fuel” from his recent beef with Meek Mill for the “epic” album.

While no official release date has been confirmed by Drake for Views From the 6, rumors began suggesting that the album would drop on October 6 in honor of Drake’s label, OVO Sound (October’s Very Own), and Drake’s reference to his hometown of Toronto with the number “6.”

While October 6 came and went with no sign of a release from Drake, the rapper recently teased fans with an Instagram post promising that the video for Hotline Bling is “coming soon.”
