‘Star Wars Battlefront’ Beta Reveal Han Solo And Princess Leia Playable Characters — Possibly

Star Wars: Battlefront will see more Star Wars heroes such as Han Solo and Princess Leia, plus a Hero Hunt mode.

The Star Wars: Battlefront beta has just gone live on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and fans playing the Star Wars: Battlefront beta are already neck-deep on the game. But while everyone is busy playing their first missions on the different planets of Star Wars: Battlefront, some are scavenging through the back door and finding good stuff to share with the millions of Star Wars fans and Star Wars: Battlefront players all over the world.

GameSpot reports that people in the Star Wars: Battlefront community at Reddit found some unannounced heroes and game modes after browsing through the files downloaded with the Star Wars: Battlefront beta. Reddit member and Star Wars: Battlefront fans TheeUberMedic and TheRadGamerDan started digging through the Star Wars beta files and found more Star Wars heroes that weren’t announced by EA yet.

We do know Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader are two heroes who will be available and playable in Star Wars: Battlefront. They have been widely exposed in various trailers and gameplay videos. But apart from Skywalker and Darth Vader, TheeUberMedic found the paths to the sound files for characters Han Solo, Princess Leia, Boba Fett, and even the Emperor. If you want to locate the Star Wars: Battlefront sound files for yourself, TheeUberMedic shares how he found them inside the Star Wars: Battlefront beta folders.

“If you are on PC, find the location of the folder which is in program files, origin games, and battlefront, click on the data folder, then the win32 folder. Once in there, there will be a file called, ‘characters.sb’ after doing some searching, opening it with notepad, I searched for heroes by clicking Ctrl+F”

If you’re playing Star Wars: Battlefront beta on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, or you just haven’t gotten around into downloading the beta, TheRadGamerDan followed the Star Wars: Battlefront paths and uploaded the sound files of Han Solo, Princess Leia, Boba Fett, and the Emperor on SoundCloud. He even found some other voice overs for game mode Hero Hunt and uploaded these on SoundCloud as well.

The voiceovers sound pretty good, although they aren’t the original cast, and listening to the Emperor is pretty fun actually. Listening to Han Solo and Boba Fett, it looks like they could actually be playable characters throughout Star Wars: Battlefront. Princess Leia and the Emperor, however, sound like they are only morale booster voiceovers. The voiceovers for Hero Hunt are also pretty interesting, with references to the aforementioned unrevealed Star Wars: Battlefront characters apart from Skywalker and Darth Vader such as Han Solo, Boba Fett, and Princess Leia.

If Han Solo and Princess Leia are indeed playable characters, as teased by these voiceovers, how do they fight it out with the stormtroopers? Star Wars: Battlefront fans and players talk it out on Reddit and speculate as to how Han Solo and Princess Leia fight in the battlefield if ever they become heroes.

Reddit user Mikey_MiG speculates, “They could have very overpowered blasters and/or unique weaponry.”

User Leonesaurus adds, “Hero characters, like Han and Leia, could have 1-shot kill blasters, similar to the 1-shot kill lightsabers against regular infantry. Plus, they’ll have the larger healthpool, similar to the Jedi and bounty hunter heroes. Also, I’m positive they’ll also have grenades that have a larger exploding radius and damage, and this might be a stretch, but Han could call Chewie in with the Falcon to fire on troops below, or something? This is all just speculation, of course.”

Here’s the question: Why are these voiceovers included in the files of the Star Wars: Battlefront beta downloaded into the players’ servers? Will Han Solo, Princess Leia, Boba Fett, and the Emperor be available throughout the Star Wars: Battlefront beta? Is EA DICE gearing up for DLCs or further plans in the Star Wars: Battlefront game itself? Are these just extra material or even fan service material for Star Wars: Battlefront fans?

While we wait for confirmation from EA, let’s spend more time on that Star Wars: Battlefront beta since it’s ending on October 12. If you haven’t downloaded the Star Wars: Battlefront beta yet, don’t let the precious hours tick by — download the beta now from the official Star Wars: Battlefront website.

Star Wars: Battlefront is set to release officially for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 17.
