The two-time reigning champion, Spain, are on the brink of qualifying for the 2016 UEFA Euro finals in France next summer. On Friday, La Roja faces Luxembourg at home, having won the last six matches, following a shocking loss in Slovakia.

For the match against Luxembourg, coach Vicente del Bosque opted to leave Chelsea forward Diego Costa home and will also be without Barcelona defender Andres Iniesta and Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, according to Super Sport.

“Costa is suspended for the first game so we decided not to take him to Ukraine either,” Del Bosque told reporters about Costa’s absence from the UEFA Euro qualifier.

Ramos talked about missing the feature in remarks published in Marca. He is still recovering from a dislocated shoulder injury.

“I need to recover. I didn’t end the game (against Atletico Madrid) well and I pushed myself to make it back in time for the derby.

“It was an injury which should have sidelined me for four weeks, but I made it back in just over two.”

Tune into watch Spain vs. Luxembourg live stream free to see if Spain can add two points to their tally and move on. Spain only need one win on their last two appearances and are at the least assured of a playoff berth, and even though Luxembourg does not seem to be much of a threat, del Bosque will face a challenge with his defense.

Spain have had trouble during the 2016 UEFA Euro qualifier and del Bosque has yet to find his ideal defensive combination. During Spain’s golden years, La Roja was known for their brilliant attack, but also for an extraordinary defense.

During the 2010 World Cup, the team of Joan Capdevila, Gerard Pique, Carlos Puyol, and Sergio Ramos was one of the most impenetrable defensive bunch in all of football, which propelled Spain to their first ever World Cup championship. As these players have aged and with new injuries, del Bosque finds himself with difficulties achieving another successful quartet.

Fans who watch Spain vs. Luxembourg live stream free expect La Roja to take the win without much difficulties. Luxembourg has lost all their previous five meetings against Spain and in their encounter in October 2014, Luxembourg lost 0-4, according to UEFA.com. Their only earlier competitive meeting — a 2011 UEFA European Championship qualifier — was a 6-0 trashing by Spain.

Moreover, Spain are undefeated in 31 home qualifiers, with 27 wins and four draws. La Roja won their last 16 encounters in the UEFA Euro Championship and their last defeat was a 1-0 loss to Greece in June 2003.

Most don’t give Luxembourg any chances on Friday, even if Spain have crucial absences on their roster, as they have lost their last six competitive away matches. Luxembourg has lost 15 away matches, with three draws, since their stunning 2-1 win against Switzerland in the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September 2008.

Clearly, the defending Champions are close to clinching a spot to advance to the 2016 UEFA Euro, and not many expect them to lose this match against Luxembourg. Even though del Bosque will also be without Dani Carvajal and Iñigo Martínez, it is safe to say a Spanish loss at home would be a massive shock.
