Adam Lambert on Clay Aiken: He Can Ride My Coattails

Adam Lambert has finally responded to the catty comments made by former fellow gay American Idol runner Clay Aiken.

“I don’t know Clay,” Lambert told Access Hollywood. “I’m glad he’s getting headlines now though, because he wasn’t before. If he wants to ride my coattails about it, good for him.”

Aiken stirred Lambert fans up last week, saying on an Idol show he’d watched that “Adam Lambert was singing ‘Ring of Fire’ and, at that moment, thought my ears would bleed. Contrived, awful, and slightly frightening!” Aiken later apologized for the remarks.

Despite losing American Idol in suspicious circumstances, Lambert has thrived since the show with multiple media appearances. Lambert is also being considered for the position of lead singer of Queen.

    You go boy!

    Love you Adam! <3 <3 <3

  2. HAHAHA!!! CLAY, you've got what you deserve! You think Adam will just let you insult him like that. NO WAY!

    GO, ADAM!

  3. How disappointing. I thought Adam had more class than that, and what coattails is he talking about? His only claim to fame so far is losing the competition to Kris Allen.

  4. Clay crossed the line with those “colorful” comments. I erased the only Clay song I had in my music library.

All of the discussions of why Adam lost cannot be resolved by any of the currant explanations. It was not Danny’s fans that converted to Kris fans, because truth be told, Danny did not really have that many fans according to Google Trends. If you track Danny, Adam and Kris since January you will see that at all times relevant Adam had more interest then the two of them combined. Adams sexuality was a storm that was weathered. Although now Kara and Seacrest are trying to divert attention from the AT&T scandal by “outing “ Adam. The real issue is this. 38 to 58 million votes were generated from Arkansas. Along with AT&T many Kris fans had cheating sites with instructions on how individuals could generate thousands of votes, cross time zones and commandeer overseas votes from the homophobic Philippines. The issue is how did Idol deal with the votes that according to the rules could be thrown out. Did they throw out any of these votes? If the rules allow total discretion as to what votes can be kept or discarded then it is really not a “vote” is it? Why should we wast out time or money? Telescope Inc., the” third” vote keeper is not answering these questions, somebody should.

BRILLIANT COME BACK TO A STUPID COMMENT. YOU HANDLE IGNORANCE AS WELL AS YOU SING. ENJOY YOUR SUCCESS THAT IS BOUND TO BE COMING YOU WAY

  7. Are you serious Jane??? You really must have your head way up your ass to make a comment like that. Have fun enjoying Kris for the 5 seconds he was “famous”.

  8. “The real issue is this. 38 to 58 million votes were generated from Arkansas. “

So what? California has more population than Arkansas. Why didn't they vote?

  9. I agree with Jane. Adam hasn't done anything of merit, and he has no coattails whatsoever. He needs to let it go. That was a snotty comeback, and arrogance is never attractive. Whether or not Clay said anything doesn't matter. Lots of people thought that Ring of Fire performance was awful.Simon Cowell was one of them. Adam had better learn to take criticism or he'll once again prove what a jerk he is. To even imply that someone like Clay needs Adam for any kind of publicity is stupid.

I am so hurt and disappointed. I strongly supported Adam throughout this competition. I thought he was a nice, humble, sweet guy, and I am devastated to learn what an ungracious smartass he is. Clay didn't say anything that many other people hadn't been saying. I have enjoyed Clay's talent and personality for six years now and have hurt so much when people have so unfairly called him names. But I was so proud of him for rising above it and saying it was just part of the job. He has proven to me how classy he is. This comment about Adam was uncharacteristic of him, and I think he recognized it as such and apologized. That was a great thing to do. Adam should have accepted his apology and moved on. Adam didn't even wait a week to show what a jerk he is. Shame on me for buying his humble act. He's lost my respect, and I know I'm not alone.

  11. Adam's snotty retort has really disappointed me. What an arrogant jerk. I'm sorry I ever supported him.

  12. Don't you see that Clay actually believed he was Adam before Adam…high voiced/rocker/gay/actor…but he found out that Adam has a KILLER ,much better voice and range, and a charisma that with a little tweaking, will put him in QUEEN or possibly make him a serious rock star. Clay will always be known as a POP artist, maybe a one hit wonder, who will be playing dinner theaters soon. I hear the anger and jealousy in Clay. It's like he found out just how mediocre he is compared to Adam, who has the chops to be around for a long time if he gets the right material and band.

  13. Adam has been nothing but classiness personified throughout his entire Idol journey – Clay could stand to take a few lessons from him.

  14. LOL at classines personified comment. Have you seen this? http://mjsbigidolblog.com/?p=3802

  15. A19 could eliminate a lot of the voting controversy and highly increase the legitimacy of the whole voting process if they would just limited the number of votes per phone number to the number of contestants of the week. or charge for each vote. Then the winner would represent the preference of the actual number of people who voted rather than the frenziness of the fan sector for the winning contestant. As it is right now, I very seldom watch or vote not because I don't like the idea of the show but am turned off by the irrelevance of voting under the current rules. The American Idol is more like the Idol of the state they're from than of the voting population (and yes I realize that some states watch AI much more than others and that is just the way it is. I think the current system really invalidates the whole concept of the American Idol and can actually do the so called winner a big disservice by leaving them feeling that they did not win fair and square.

That sound you hear is my iPod deleting every arrogant, fake, poser Glambert song from the playlist. I'll forgive a lot of things, but adding to the pile-on that is the 6-yr-old trash heap of “Let's bash Clay because it's cool” is not one of them. I don't care what he thought of your ROF performance in his PRIVATE site, he has accomplished far more with his life, career & charity work than you could ever hope to even try. Enjoy your Triple Platinum albums, enjoy your #1 Billboard songs, enjoy your NY Times best-seller, enjoy your sold-out concert tours…. IF they ever happen & with the fickle public & in this economy that is a HUGE IF. Clay has turned the other cheek to everyone for 6 long years & I guess he'd finally had enough from the phony AI machine. I know I've certainly had enough of your ego, oh he with no coattails to speak of.

  17. Clay…you are a jeleous, ignorant jerk! So unprofessional! You don't even come near to talent as far as Adam goes. Good for you Adam…yes, let him “try” to ride on your coat-tails…that's all he's got left. You are a squirmey little worm…Adam is so right…I haven't heard anything about you in god knows how long…not that I cared…but, how sad,…you feel so insecure that you need to put down a true talent. Shame on you. You just ruined your “so called” career. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ADAM IS IT…sorry Clay….

  18. Clay only told the truth about Adam's horrible singing. Adam lied about Clay needing his non-existent coat tails. Adam is the jerk here and I'm sad because I liked them both until Adam lashed out when he should have kept his mouth shut.
