Kim Zolciak Says Stroke Revealed Health Issue: ‘I Have A Hole In My Heart That Never Closed’

Kim Zolciak is recovering from her mini-stroke that she suffered earlier this fall. Kim was competing on Dancing With The Stars and had made it to Week 2. But all of a sudden, she fell ill and she was rushed to the hospital. The doctors revealed that she had suffered a mini-stroke — also known as a TIA — and would need to recover in the hospital. Zolciak spent a few days in the hospital with her family and her dance partner by her side.

But what Kim Zolciak hasn’t revealed is what she learned after her stroke. Even though Kim was thrilled about the treatment at the hospital, she did go through various tests. And Zolciak is now revealing that the stroke was blessing in disguise because it revealed a heart condition. Zolciak didn’t know she was dealing with a heart condition, but apparently, she has a hole in her heart.

According to a new People report, Kim Zolciak is now sharing the details about how the scary mini-stroke was actually a good thing for her, because she learned that she had a severe health issue. Apparently, Zolciak had no idea that she had a hole in her heart.

“The minor TIA [transient ischemic attack] revealed that I have a PFO [patent foramen ovale], a hole in my heart that never closed,” Zolciak revealed while sitting down with Michael Strahan on Good Morning America, adding that the stroke occurred when a blood clot “was able to cross over through the hole.”

Kim was quickly back on Instagram, posting pictures of her life. And it sounds like Zolciak is doing great these days. But it sounds like Kim is still disappointed with her elimination on Dancing With The Stars. Of course, Zolciak couldn’t compete days after her stroke because she couldn’t fly back to Los Angeles to compete. While the doctors had given her clearance to dance, they didn’t want her flying. And while exceptions have been made in the past for contestants, Kim felt betrayed that the judges didn’t agree to let her dance in Atlanta. As she later proved on Instagram, she had been practicing, and she was ready.

“I love Dancing with the Stars, it’s been the best experience of my life,” she revealed, adding, “I feel like they could have done something via satellite. They’ve made exceptions in the past.”

Many felt horrible for Kim Zolciak when she announced that she had suffered a stroke. But it didn’t take long for people to question her story. For one, Kim said “mini stroke” on Instagram, and many people assumed it was a stroke. So, when she was caught drinking coffee in the hospital, people started questioning whether she was telling the truth. And Wendy Williams took it to a whole new level.

“She allegedly suffered a mini-stroke after returning home from DWTS last week. Now Kim is 37-years-old and, you know, she’s got six children. She looks terrific, you know, and by the way, the reality show is cute … but, Kim, my thought is, um, I hope you’re not fibbing about the stroke,” Wendy Williams questioned on her show, according to Hollywood Life, adding, “Kim, at 37-years-old, if you did have a mini stroke, I’m sorry to hear about that. If, however, you just wanted to get off Dancing with the Stars, all you had to do was just stub your toe. I don’t like talking about friends of the show if it’s in a shady way, but I’m in the purple chair, so it makes me do things.”

What do you think about Kim Zolciak learning of her heart condition? Do you think the mini-stroke was a blessing in disguise?
