Luke Gatti: UConn Student’s Temper Tantrum Over Mac ‘N’ Cheese Goes Viral [NSFW Video]

Luke Gatti threw a drunken temper tantrum over being denied access to bacon and jalapeno macaroni and cheese. Now, the 19-year-old University of Connecticut student probably finds himself expelled (again) for his terrible behavior.

Heavy reports that Gatti was refused entrance to the on-campus Union Street Market because he was attempting to enter the establishment while carrying an open container of alcohol. Rather than leave as requested, Luke launched into a 9-minute obscenity-laced rant.

A video recording of the incident, which occurred on Saturday, showed Gatti shouting at various members of the food court staff, and at the manager in particular. He reportedly called the man a gay slur while repeatedly demanding to be given mac and cheese. In a moment that demonstrated a blatant lack of self-awareness, Luke Gatti proclaimed, “This is getting posted somewhere, and you’re gonna look like a f*****g tool.”

Perhaps one of the most hilarious aspects of this cringe-worthy spectacle was the justification Gatti attempted to use for being granted entrance to the food court. Luke asked the bewildered manager why he, as a proud American, couldn’t bring his beer into the building.

The staff contacted campus police, but continued to try to deal with the intoxicated student in as professional a manner as possible. They attempted to persuade Luke to leave, but he continued to verbally abuse them. Finally, he made the mistake of shoving the food court manager. At that point, an employee physically intervened, and Gatti was pinned to the ground.

Food court staff members held Luke down until campus police arrived, at what point he was arrested and carried away. A video of the ugly episode was posted to the internet on Monday, and it’s since gone viral.

The Associated Press reports Luke Gatti was charged with breach of peace and criminal trespassing. An official statement by UConn spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz suggested there was a good chance the freshman would face expulsion for his behavior.

“Generally speaking, any UConn student found to have violated the provisions of the Student Code may face penalties imposed by the Division of Student Affairs that range from probation to expulsion.”

Apparently word has already started to circulate that the teen was indeed expelled from UConn over his beer-fueled rampage.

Why is it so unsurprising that Gatti was likely booted over his drunken outburst? Probably because as Heavy noted, this wouldn’t be the first time. Luke, a native of Long Island, New York, was previously a student at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. In September, 2014, he was arrested twice in two weeks for disorderly behavior.

During the September 1 incident, Luke Gatti was arrested for disorderly conduct, during which time he reportedly called a police officer a racial slur. The September 15 arrest resulted in charges of disorderly conduct, assault, and battery on a police officer.

In the New York Magazine write-up of Luke Gatti’s latest brush with the law, the writer quipped, “Let this be an important lesson for the ever-entitled Gatti… The mac-‘n’-cheese gods do not reward spoiled d****ebags.”

The Luke Gatti outburst certainly paints a “portrait of privilege,” as New York Magazine called it. Despite being intoxicated in public and despite carrying an open beer container, somehow Luke Gatti felt that the rules didn’t apply to him. Whether the teenager felt this more strongly because he was intoxicated is a matter of speculation. It’s worth noting that Gatti’s outbursts suggest he has a history of making poor decisions that negatively impact himself more so than anyone else.

If Luke truly found himself put out of another reputable college, it may be a struggle to be admitted to another good school — his disruptive antics are now well-documented.
