Ronda Rousey Talks UFC 193 With Jimmy Fallon, Calls Holly Holm “Nice Chick Who’s Going To Lose”

The “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey called out her UFC 193 opponent Holly Holm during an interview with Jimmy Fallon October 6, saying that while Holm seemed like a nice girl, she was a “nice chick who’s going to lose” at their upcoming bout November 14.

Promotion has been strong for the upcoming Ronda Rousey/Holly Holm match lately, with Rousey making the rounds on the talk show circuit and promotional videos making their rounds on social media.

Ronda Rousey acknowledged Holm’s impressive record during her Tonight Show interview, noting that her matchup with Holm was likely to be a longer one than her other fights. Holm’s record is as impressive as Ronda Rousey’s, with an as-yet undefeated record. Rousey, however, is not going into this match blind; she made it clear during her interview that she knew full well what the score was when she faced Holm.

“She’s undefeated and an amazing athlete, and definitely the biggest threat to me, especially on paper and stylistically,” Ronda Rousey told Fallon, according to Fansided.

While much was made of Ronda Rousey’s plunging neckline during the interview, Rousey appeared unfazed by the attention her sheer black, cleavage-baring dress was getting. She spent time discussing her favorite chicken wings, Floyd Mayweather, and even challenged Fallon to a Mario Kart rematch once the Tonight Show host’s finger was fully healed from the ring avulsion he sustained earlier this year.

Ronda Rousey acknowledged Holm’s record, with its impressive 19-time record with 100-percent takedown defense and head kick knockouts, according to Bleacher Report. She told Fallon that she had nothing against Holm — admitting that she thought Holm was nice — but adding that the match was likely not to go the way that Holm would like.

In addition to her appearance on Tonight, Ronda Rousey also recently made history; she became the first woman in the history of the Australian Men’s Fitness magazine to appear on its cover. The magazine’s decision to feature the UFC Women’s Bantamweight champ on its cover has definitely stirred its fair share of controversy, with some people choosing to take what the Sydney Morning Herald referred to as “the low road” by calling Ronda Rousey “Rodney Rousey”. The cover feature, however, is a smart move given that UFC 193 is taking place in Melbourne, Australia. Fortune, however, has taken a more positive shine to Ronda Rousey; the UFC star hit the magazine’s coveted “40 under 40” list, with 2015 earnings from her fights alone netting $7 million.

When it came to discussing her previous fight with Bethe Correia, whom Ronda Rousey defeated handily in 34 seconds, Rousey told Fallon that the fight actually went longer because Correia went to the ground.

“She tried to close the distance—and I could have thrown her—and I was ‘no, you’re getting knocked out tonight.’ So it went 34 seconds,” Rousey told Fallon.

The bout between Ronda Rousey and Bethe Correia was particularly personal for the UFC star, as Correia said she would tell Rousey, should she lose UFC190 (Rousey won), “Please don’t kill yourself – don’t commit suicide, because I will give you the rematch,” according to MMA Junkie.

Later, Correia said she was unaware that Rousey’s father had completed suicide, which made the fight personal. The match lasted all of 34 seconds, bringing the total time of her last four bouts to around 130 seconds.

After discussing the upcoming Holm bout at UFC 193, Ronda Rousey admitted to relief knowing that Jimmy Fallon would not be able to take her on in a Mario Kart rematch. The last time Rousey appeared on Tonight, Fallon admitted he mopped the floor with her during a Mario Kart match, a beating which Rousey said inspired her to get a Wii and practice that exact same version of the game that she had played with Fallon.

Ronda Rousey grinned and said that she was relieved that Fallon was still in recovery mode and still undergoing rehab from the ring avulsion. No doubt the next match that Rousey will be facing will be against Fallon for Mario Kart glory.
