Shannon Beador Addresses ‘RHOC’ Viewer Criticism That She Hasn’t Been A Good Friend To Vicki Gunvalson

Shannon Beador has addressed the fact that some viewers of The Real Housewives of Orange County don’t believe that she was a good friend to Vicki Gunvalson. In her latest Bravo TV blog post, posted after Monday night’s episode aired, Shannon defended herself.

Shannon admitted that she has received a lot of criticism from viewers over what has happened to Vicki. Shannon defended herself by saying that she has been by Vicki’s side more than any other cast member. As for why she asked Vicki to produce medical proof that Brooks Ayers has cancer, Shannon explained that she wanted Vicki to end all of the questioning and speculation once and for all. Shannon doesn’t understand how her trying to help Vicki put an end to the cancer drama makes her a bad friend.

“I have looked at some of the social media comments in the last few weeks and I have to say it is quite upsetting to hear that some viewers believe I haven’t been a good friend to Vicki Gunvalson. I have been by my friend’s side throughout this season, more than any other cast member. As a good friend, I wanted to help Vicki and Brooks stop the rumors about his illness. As much as she thought she could say “put a pin in it” and stop the talk, that wasn’t happening. I asked Vicki to lunch because I wanted her to truly end the talk and speculation. Originally I believed it was outrageous for Brooks to produce medical records to shut speculation down about his illness, but after a certain point, I realized it was the only thing that would actually end the discussion. I cannot comprehend how that constitutes a bad friend.”

Indeed, in earlier episodes, Shannon stood by Vicki and helped defend her as she battled with Meghan King Edmonds over Brooks. In interviews, Shannon expressed shock at the lengths that Meghan has gone, such as calling his medical offices and ex-girlfriend, to prove that Vicki and Brooks are lying about him having cancer.

Yet the friendship between Shannon Beador and Vicki Gunvalson began to take a turn when Shannon, during a dinner with husband David Beador, Vicki, and Brooks, revealed that the other housewives were beginning to question Brooks’ cancer diagnoses. Vicki actually screamed at Shannon and left the dinner table. Vicki later explained in a blog post that she was mad at Shannon because she told Shannon earlier that she didn’t want any negative talk during dinner, which was organized to celebrate Brooks’ birthday. Vicki admitted that she overreacted and owed Shannon an apology.

The real turning point came when, in a later episode, Shannon and Vicki met up for lunch. Shannon told Vicki that she and Brooks should just show the other housewives medical proof of Brooks’ cancer diagnoses to quiet their speculation and questions. Vicki got very upset because she just wanted a nice lunch without any talk of Brooks’ cancer. She felt betrayed by Shannon talking about it and asking for medical proof. In an interview with Bravo later, Vicki said that Shannon is obviously now drinking the Kool-Aid.

Shannon, who prides herself on being an open book, telling the truth, and being a loyal friend, doesn’t appreciate Vicki questioning her loyalty. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Shannon said in an interview in late September that her loyalty as a friend shouldn’t be questioned.

Vicki’s continued defensiveness and unwillingness to provide proof of Brooks Ayers’ cancer has led even Shannon to wonder if the cancer diagnosis is true and if Vicki is in on the act.

On Monday night’s episode, Shannon said that the thought that Vicki is duping her is “crushing.” A preview for next week’s finale episode shows Shannon screaming “How dare you!” at Vicki as Vicki walks way with her head down.

Things between Shannon Beador and Vicki Gunvalson apparently didn’t get resolved at the Real Housewives of Orange County Season 10 reunion show that filmed last Thursday.

As the Inquisitr reported, Vicki admitted during a Periscope session Sunday that she and Shannon are still not friends.

“You’ll see what happens with Shannon and I at the reunion. Right now we are not friends. She believes a lie and I can’t convince her. I’m disappointed in that, but I feel like it will be OK. I think in time she’ll understand.”
