‘Destiny’ Sleeper Simulant Quest Discovered, How To Do First Steps

Destiny: The Taken King has been out for three weeks and has had players on PlayStation and Xbox consoles scrambling to find the rarest of the new Exotic weapons, the Sleeper Simulant Fusion Rifle. That quest finally cracked open on Wednesday, but only the first part is available and certain requirements have to be fulfilled to start. This guide will explain how to get started and complete the first part of the Sleeper Simulant quest.

Update: The final steps for the Sleeper Simulant Quest have been found. Click here for the complete guide.

The Sleeper Simulant is a unique Fusion Rifle that sits in the Heavy Weapon slot, as previously covered by Inquisitr. It fires powerful bolts that will ricochet off hard surfaces up to five times when it is fully upgraded.

Reddit user alexp1128 and YouTuber personality DattoDoesDestiny both discovered the mission was live this morning and confirmed the following steps.

Requirements

The Sleeper Simulant quest line starts with a new mission called “The First Firewall” on Earth, which became available on October 7. The only way to access this mission is by obtaining four DVALIN Fusion Rifles and turning them into the Gunsmith. If you don’t have all four yet, run out through Patrols and just start killing everything until you do.

The mission will simply appear on Earth in the navigator; you won’t have to visit the Tower to obtain a new quest. You can be any Gunsmith rank to start this.

Update: The appearance of the Sleeper Simulant quest appears to be based on some timer set by Bungie. The “First Firewall” mission will appear occasionally as long as you have turned in the four DVALIN Fusion Rifles to the Gunsmith.

Step 1 – Complete “The First Firewall” Mission

Destiny The First Firewall Mission

This mission follows the same path as the Siege of the Warmind mission from The Dark Below. Fight your way to the control point. You will need to activate the console to spawn the final fight against four waves of Hive and Taken Knights and a large Ultra Knight boss.

It’s important to pay attention to the order the Knights spawn in each wave because that makes up the passcode for the Curious Transceiver relic that drops from defeating the boss. The entry for the passcode is a simple up or down on the buttons available in the relic entry screen. Hive Knights represent up and Taken Knights indicate down.

If you care to solve this part by yourself, please stop here and come back later. If you’d like some help with the codes, they are as follows:

Passcode 1: Up, Down, Up Up, Down, Down, Down, Up, Down

Passcode 2: Up, Down, Up, Up, Down, Down, Up, Up

Passcode 3: Up, Down, Down, Down, Up, Down, Down, Down, Up, Up

Passcode 4: Up, Down, Up, Down, up, Down, Up, Up

Destiny: Curious Tranceiver

Step 2 – Complete “Shadow Call” Mission

Entering the correct passcode sequences into the Curious Transceiver relic unlocks a new mission titled “Shadow Call.” This is essentially the same as the “Cayde’s Stash” mission, but starting a little bit further in. This is a timed mission, however, and must be completed in four minutes.

You will need to rush past all of the enemies and make your way up to the top of the level and take the teleporter to the final room. Three Taken Wizards spawn in this room and must be defeated to end the mission. Competing this mission on time to receive the IKELOS Fusion Core.

Step 3 – Complete Requirements to Restart the Core

Destiny: Curious Transceiver (PlayStation, Xbox)

There are five nodes in the IKELOS Fusion Core that have certain requirements that need to be met to complete. Once all five are activated the core will be restarted. Here are the requirements:

Ionized Shell Harmonics – Complete the “Archive” mission on Venus at any difficulty level.

Heavy Power Coupling – Dismantle any Legendary or Exotic Heavy Weapon.

WARSAT//MK19/TERRA/RSPN – Complete a “Defend the Warsat” public event on Earth. The “Fallen SABER” Strike does not count.

WARSAT//MK19/LUNA/RSPN – Complete a “Defend the Warsat” public event on the Moon.

WARSAT//MK19/MARS/CHLM – Complete a “Defend the Warsat” public event on Mars.

Head over to Destiny Public Events if you need help finding a “Defend the Warsat” public event.

Step 4 – Return to the Gunsmith

Now that the IKELOS Fusion Core is restarted, you can return to the Gunsmith in the Tower and turn it. You will get absolutely nothing at this point though. This appears to just make the next step in the Sleeper Simulant quest line available for when it goes live. It’s unclear if this will be part of the next Armsday or at some other point.
