Fairfax Hiker Found Dead: California Shooting Kills Tantric Sex Therapist Steven Philip Carter [Video]

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office says a Fairfax hiker found dead on a hiking trail was shot while walking his dog. The California shooting victim has been identified as 67-year-old Steven Philip Carter, who was known as a prominent tantric sex therapist. The shooter is still at large and police have released videos which they hope leads to the suspect’s arrest.

In a related report by the Inquisitr, the increase in California gun control laws led to the closing of the last San Francisco gun shop in the entire city.

Marin County sheriff’s Lt. Doug Pittman says the Fairfax hiker found dead was discovered by another hiker in the Loma Alta Open Space Preserve shortly after 6 PM on Monday. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Steven Carter was shot multiple times as he hiked on Old Railroad Grade Fire Road, and even the man’s dog, a Doberman pinscher, was also harmed during the California shooting.

The dog was still alive and attached to Carter’s hand by a leash. Authorities say the dog was being treated by a vet for gunshot wounds.

Police believe the shooter took Carter’s car keys and then stole his station wagon from a nearby parking lot. Multiple bullet casings were discovered at the scene of the crime, but the murder weapon has not yet been discovered. The U.S. Park Police and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife have been using police dogs to search for the missing gun, while a plane with high definition cameras has taken photos of the crime scene.

The motive behind the California shooting has law enforcement officers looking for clues for why anyone would want to kill the tantric sex therapist, but his family believes it may have been a random murder.

“I’ve heard that he was murdered, but I haven’t heard anything other than that,” said Michael Carter, the victim’s brother. “I can’t imagine that it’s anything other than a random thing. All of it seems very random and unbelievable. Nothing makes any sense.”

Another hiker, 27-year-old Ben Tedder, says he was hiking in the area when the shooting occurred. He was question by deputies, but he finds it disconcerting that the crime may have been random.

“They just wanted to know if I’d seen anyone suspicious or anyone at all, but I could tell from the way they were talking that something bad had happened,” Tedder said. “To hear that it could’ve just been random is really scary. Kids go up there to tag or do graffiti in the tunnel up there, but nothing like this. Stuff like this doesn’t happen around here.”

After the Fairfax hiker was found dead, police say it is possible the killer or killers fled the scene in the victim’s silver 2003 Volkswagen Jetta station wagon, which has the California license plate 6PPG662.

“Anyone who spots the car should call 911 and treat the occupants as armed and dangerous,” said Lt. Pittman.

Police have released surveillance videos of two people of interest who visited a 7-Eleven gas station store located near the scene of the crime. There is also a third person of interest that is suspected to be related to the California shooting, but this third person is not seen on the video.

“You never know what the big piece of evidence is going to be, so we are looking at everything,” Pittman said.

The footage shows a long-haired man with a black hat that has light colored feathers attached to the brim. He was seen wearing a black jacket. The second suspect is a woman with blond hair, who was also seen wearing dark clothing.

According to CBS, Steven Carter and his wife Lokita were well known for producing DVDs on Tantric massage and yoga for lovers and meditation. The couple had move to California recently because Lokita Carter had contracted cancer and was receiving treatment in America.
