Marco Rubio Overtakes Carly Fiorina In Polls, Becomes Target Of Jeb Bush Cracks, Donald Trump Water Prank


Most recent polls conducted by Public Policy Polling show that Marco Rubio has overtaken Carly Fiorina and is now running third in polling for the Republican Party presidential nomination, according to Real Clear Politics. The poll includes data that was collected between October 1 and 4 and was conducted with 1,338 registered voters. Error for the Republican portion of the polls is reported at +/- 3.9 percent.

The data shows Donald Trump retaining his lead, with 27 percent of Republican voter support, and Ben Carson in second with 17 percent, in contrast to a recent poll from IBD/TPP showing Carson overtaking Trump 24 to 17 percent, as reported by the Inquisitr.

In the most recent PPP poll, Marco Rubio overtook Carly Fiorina, holding 13 percent of voter favor compared with Fiorina’s 6 percent. Ten percent of voters are reported to have named Florida Governor Jeb Bush as their choice.

Senator Marco Rubio was the subject of a satirical piece on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert last week that made note of water bottles the Rubio campaign is offering on his website featuring the slogan “Water Great Nation.”

CNN is reporting that Donald Trump sent a case of bottled water and towels to Rubio in what Trump staffers described as a “prank” and that the towels were for “for him sweating.”

Marco Rubio was the subject of attention at the Republican State of the Union in 2013 when he drank from a bottle while speaking, in a way that some found noteworthy. Rubio is also reported to have missed more votes than any other U.S. senator in 2015.

“I’ve never seen a young guy sweat that much,” Donald Trump was quoted about Marco Rubio. “He’s drinking water, water, water. I never saw anything like this with him with the water.”

“Everyone that has run for president in the past has faced this,” Senator Rubio was quoted with regard to missing Senate votes.

“A bill to not pay absent members might not pass the house or senate… But at least it would get them all there for a vote,” Jeb Bush was quoted as stating separately.

Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio had been seen as political allies. In the past, they have spoken favorably of each other; they are both Florida Republicans. Their tight polling could be a reason for the uptick in rhetoric coming out of both camps.

Donald Trump has made comments indicating that he feels Rubio and Bush “hate” each other and that the reason they do is “political b******t.”

“And we cannot simply promote the next person in line, or the most familiar name,” CNN held up as an example of Rubio speaking out against political “dynasties.” Jeb Bush has compared Rubio’s “leadership skills” will President Obama’s.

With regard to President Obama’s recent plea for gun law reform, as reported by the Inquisitr, Senator Rubio appeared on Today and expressed the view that such reforms would not have prevented the recent tragic Umpqua Community College shootings.

Marco Rubio’s campaign website states that he would work to “undo” the Iran nuclear deal from “day one,” as well as ideas for higher education, families, taxes and taking a strong stance with Russia.

With regard to Planned Parenthood, Senator Rubio has been reported to have recently missed votes to de-fund the organization, according to Breibart, calling them “show votes.” Marco Rubio has said that videos purported to show Planned Parenthood workers involved in the sale of body parts were “horrifying.” Breitbart summarized Rubio’s Planned Parenthood stance, “only by electing a Republican president can taxpayers hope to stop sending $500 million to the baby body parts trafficker every year.”

Marco Rubio has “sympathized” with #BlackLivesMatter, comparing the group’s goals to the Tea Party’s, with the New York Post writing that both are seeking “accountability from public officials.”
