They’re Back Again: Nick Carter Brings Backstreet To ‘DWTS’ [Video]
Nick Carter just brought Backstreet back in a big way Monday night on Dancing with the Stars, and his performance left women begging for more, Us Weekly reported.
Dancing to “Everybody” by the Backstreet Boys, the boy band member rocked the mini-concert setting inside the Dancing with the Stars ballroom with his partner, Sharna Burgess. Nick even made sure to including signature Backstreet moves for the performance, eliciting chants of the singer’s name. The dance catapulted Carter and Burgess to the top of the leader board with their highest score to-date.
Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba summed up what many women in the audience and those watching at home might have felt about Burgess performing beside Carter.
“Before I go even go into you, Nick, I have to say, Sharna, I think every girl who was a fan of the Backstreet Boys wants to be you right now. You killed that!”
Julianne Hough didn’t say much when given the chance to critique the Nick Carter performance. Outside of repeatedly calling it hot, Hough drew a paper sign expressing her love for the Backstreet member.

Even Erin Andrews got into the act of swooning over Nick Carter. In an interview after the dance, Carter complimented the Dancing with the Stars co-host, drawing a flirtatious response from Andrews.
“I just wish I had been Sharna up there, especially on some of those parts. That was amazing. Thank you for reliving my twenties.”

The theme for Dancing with the Stars was “Most Memorable Year.” Nick chose 1996 because that’s when a 12-year-old Carter met the remainder of his band members — A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson, and Howie Dorough. The former Backstreet Boy explained to Us Weekly why he chose that year.
“That was the year my life changed forever. Without them, I wouldn’t be who I am right now. Every single one of those guys raised me and taught me so much about values and family and relationships and just morals and I was really fortunate to have that from those guys. They were there for me through thick and thin and cared about me and loved me without expectations wholeheartedly.”
In the video before the performance, Nick opened up about his rocky childhood because of his family life. Carter tearfully said he tried to fix his family and help them become a “dream” family, but the Backstreet Boys’ member couldn’t achieve that goal.
Carter again thanked the other Backstreet Boys for their help growing up. Nick said that their support — along with fans — carried him through, according to Us Weekly.
“In a lot of ways, they saved me from a very dysfunctional family that I was in,” Nick told the magazine about the Backstreet Boys.
Nick Carter didn’t deliver the only show-stopping performance on the night. In addition to the memorable Backstreet nostalgia trip, fans were treated to Bindi Irwin’s emotional tribute to her father, Steve Irwin. Alek Skarlatos also delivered an emotionally powerful tribute to his former school Umpque Community College, the site of the Oregon shooting last week that claimed 10 lives.
Prior to the start of Dancing with the Stars Season 21, Nick told People magazine he was not the strongest dancer among the all-male band.
“I’ve never considered myself the greatest dancer, but I’ve been able to hide behind the guys for 23 years in the Backstreet Boys,” Carter said.
