Will There Be A ‘Castle’ Divorce This Season?

Castle is off to a start that has put more than a few fans off this season. The last we saw, Beckett has said goodbye and walked out on Castle, leaving fans to try to figure out why, and if it’s final.

According to the Inquisitr, what was supposed to be a season of Beckett in her new position as precinct captain and Castle running his private investigation agency with Alexis has turned into fans watching this once great romance crumble before our eyes. It seems Beckett is still dealing with the run off of her mother’s murder and several other personal issues that are keeping her from being part of a couple with Castle.

Us Magazine is trying to convince fans that Castle creators will not be having Beckett and Castle divorce.

“The wedding was last season, but as a couple they’ve been together and happy for several seasons now. For us we thought, ‘Let’s throw an obstacle in their way.’ Nobody’s getting divorced. They’re not splitting up forever.”

The fear of the end of Castle and Beckett has caused many fans to withdraw, causing the lowest ratings of all time.

“She really just asked him [Castle] for time,” Hawley added of Beckett, who is secretly investigating the assassins who attempted to kill her in the two-part premiere.

The creators are acknowledging that Beckett might want to move on, but she won’t

“She’s doing it to protect Castle, not to see if she is interested in other people or thinking maybe they went too fast or he isn’t what she wants anymore. Castle’s definitely what she wants and she’s willing to fight for it.”

Cartermatt believes that Castle and Beckett will be back together and the fans will be back.

“For us we thought, ‘Let’s throw an obstacle in their way.’ Nobody’s getting divorced. They’re not splitting up forever. This is an obstacle in the way that is going to make them ultimately stronger as a couple once they get through it. It adds drama, it adds comedy, it adds a lot of different layers which, as we go forward, we use to breathe some new life and energy into the show.”

But fans are seeing this as a disappointment instead of just drama. Fans have waited eight seasons to see Castle and Beckett married, and instead of seeing a couple who can work together, they are seeing a couple that are apart after less than a season. For the Castle faithful, it’s just a letdown, and fans are not going to keep watching.

The Hollywood Reporter promises that “nobody is getting divorced” and that this is one more obstacle they need to overcome.

“This is an obstacle in the way that is going to make them ultimately stronger as a couple once they get through it,” co-showrunner Alexi Hawley tells THR.

The biggest problem is that Beckett suddenly saying she needs space makes no sense to viewers. The couple seem to work together, and Beckett has a supportive husband in Castle, so fans are not privy to whatever has caused her to walk out on her husband of less than a year.
