On his way into the locker room after the first half, Rondo stopped to talk with ESPN’s Doris Burke about the game to that point. When asked what “holes” he and the Celtics were exploiting to score 61 points (in a half) on one of the “better defenses in the league,” Rajon simply answered:

“Them complaining and crying to referees in transition.”

ESPN writes that after the game, Rondo — who finished with 15 points and 15 assists — again spoke with Burke and was given a chance to apologize or explain his earlier verbal attack on the Heat. Rajon didn’t back down from his criticisms, but instead said:

“What I said was true. I don’t take back what I said. That’s what it is.”
