Corey Simms On ‘Teen Mom 2’ Backlash: ‘People’s Opinions Don’t Really Matter’

Corey Simms and his wife, Miranda, were outspoken about Leah Messer’s alleged drug problem on Season 6 of Teen Mom 2, and because of that, they often received backlash online. In the latest rant by a fan, shared on a blog titled “My Crazy World,” a fan slammed Corey Simms and Miranda for not being more supportive of Messer and her need for therapy, even claiming they had no right, even as the father and step-mother of Messer’s 5-year-old twin girls, to know details about Messer’s medical issues, which she’s claimed stem from anxiety and depression.

The fan went on to claim Messer’s odd behavior on the show, which included nearly passing out while holding a baby, was likely the result of her body not being used to whatever medication she was taking. However, as fans saw on the show, Messer admitted to taking prescription pain medication during the first episode of the show, which she said was to help her cope with intense headaches.

During the most recent episode of Teen Mom 2, which marked the Season 6 finale, Messer and Corey Simms were scheduled to meet at a local restaurant to discuss an agreement regarding their two children. Although they could have gone to court to sort things out, Corey Simms agreed to meet Messer in hopes of coming to new terms which they were both on board with. However, because Miranda, who has been married to Corey Simms for two-and-a-half years, was also present, Messer refused to meet with Corey Simms. According to Messer, she wanted to speak privately to Corey Simms, but Miranda felt she should be there, as she’s helped raise the girls for the last couple of years, and will continue to do so in the future. Miranda later told Corey Simms that Messer simply doesn’t respect her as his wife, or as someone who has done a lot for their twins.

On October 2, Corey Simms offered the following response to the fan’s blog entry.

“I started to read your ‘letter’ then I remembered that your and other people’s opinions dont really matter after all its a tv show… but thank you for taking so much of your valuable time to write such a long letter about my wife and I!”

Corey Simms and Messer were married in 2010, but divorce just months later after Messer admitted to cheating. Four years after that, Messer’s second husband, Jeremy Calvert, accused her of cheating on Twitter, and one month later, he filed for divorce. Then, in June, 2013, Corey Simms and Miranda tied the knot, and they are now expecting a baby in the coming months.

While Corey Simms and Miranda have been private about her pregnancy online, they did make an announcement to his twins on Teen Mom 2, and according to a report by The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, fans will be meeting Corey Simms’ third child in January of next year. Although the couple has yet to confirm the gender of the child, the site claimed they were having a baby girl, and that her name would start with the letter “R.”

Messer also has a third child, 2-year-old Adalynn, whom she welcomed in February, 2013, with her then-husband, Calvert. Since their divorce, they have been co-parenting the child.

For more of Corey Simms and his wife, Miranda, as well as Leah Messer, tune into the Teen Mom 2 Season 6 reunion on Wednesday, October 7, at 9 p.m. on MTV.
