Vicki Gunvalson Enjoys ‘Detox Retreat’ Amid Brooks Ayers’ Cancer Drama On ‘RHOC’

Vicki Gunvalson enjoyed a detox retreat over the weekend. As the reality star’s former boyfriend, Brooks Ayers, continues to face accusations of faking his cancer diagnosis, Vicki Gunvalson took a break from the Real Housewives of Orange County drama. On October 4, Us Weekly reported news of Vicki Gunvalson’s weekend retreat.

On Saturday, October 3, Vicki Gunvalson’s detox began, and the reality star shared a photo of herself and three friends at the Bacara Resort & Spa in Santa Barbara, California. Vicki Gunvalson then gave fans details about what she’d be doing at the resort, writing, “Yoga, meditation, hiking, massage and healthy eating is what’s in store for me this weekend.”

As Vicki Gunvalson enjoys some rest and relaxation in Southern California, her ex-boyfriend, Ayers, who relocated to Florida after their split, continues to fight back against allegations of faking cancer. Throughout The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 10, Vicki Gunvalson’s co-stars have questioned Ayers’ diagnosis, as well as his treatment plan, especially after he announced he would no longer be undergoing chemotherapy. According to Vicki Gunvalson’s co-star, Meghan King Edmonds, going off chemotherapy was dangerous, and because of that, she embarked on a bit of an investigation. During the show, Edmonds contacted a couple of Ayers’ doctors, as well as his ex-girlfriend, and reportedly discovered Ayers had faked cancer in the past from his ex. Upon calling the first doctor, Edmonds was reportedly told the physician didn’t treat cancer, and after calling the second, Edmonds was told a procedure Ayers claimed to have had at the facility wasn’t even available.

Throughout the 10th season of The Real Housewives of Orange County, and all the speculation that came with it, Vicki Gunvalson stood by Ayers, insisting he was not faking his stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis. However, her co-stars remained unconvinced, and as the season continued on, pressed Vicki Gunvalson to ask more questions.

Then, during an episode of the Bravo reality series last month, Vicki Gunvalson and Ayers sat down with Tamra Barney, and revealed the medical records of Ayers, which they felt would silence the speculation once and for all. Unfortunately, it did not. Instead, it raised more questions after Barney claimed to not understand the documents presented to her. When she spoke of the documents with her co-stars, Edmonds even went on to claim they were “forged.”

On August 16, Vicki Gunvalson shared the following joint statement with fans on Facebook in regard to her split from Ayers.

“After much prayer, thought, counseling, and consideration, we have decided to end our four year relationship. We both wish nothing but a great future for each other. We have come to realize that one can indeed love someone in their heart, but that the time may come for their lives to take separate paths. Though the remaining episodes of Season 10 of The Real Housewives of Orange County will show us as a couple, the filming took place in January 2015 through May 2015. There will be no further statements or interviews regarding our relationship as we choose to move on with our lives. Though we choose to live our lives in the public eye we thank you for your understanding and ask privacy during this difficult time.”

Despite their August split, Vicki Gunvalson has continued to remain supportive of Ayers, and often defends him against critical fans on Twitter and Facebook. That said, Ayers recently revealed he and Vicki Gunvalson haven’t had much contact in the weeks since they parted ways after four years of dating.
